OTA heads up for Southern Ontario - Western NY

The Buffalo CBS affiliate - WIVB is going to be changing physical channels next weekend. They are moving to channel 32 to share with WNLO. I think they will now be 32-2.

Thanks for the notification.

I'll have to keep an eye on WIVB and see if Spectrum's ClearQAM mappings change.

I think you will be ok if you are on cable, it is just OTA tuners that get affected.

Thanks for the heads up. I did have to rescan, and SageTV correctly remapped the channels, however I am having issues with the WIVB secondary channel, Laff. It scanned as 32-4-2 but has Station Id 109, which I don't think is a valid Station Id for Schedules Direct. I wasn't getting any EPG listings for Laff (just the usual 'No Data' entries). I disabled Laff and remapped the old 4-4 WIVB secondary channel (i.e. the 'old' Laff) to 32-4-2 (i.e. the same as the new Laff) and now get the proper EPG listings. So, problem solved, but it is curious that I had to use manual intervention. Perhaps the Schedules Direct feed has not yet been updated to reflect the WIVB switch?

Cheers
Lester

I was going to change the channel mapping over the weekend but I forgot to do this. I better take care of it before next weekend's golf coverage!

The StationID is normally a bigger number than 109 - the ones that come from SD usually have 5-6 digit numbers. So I am guessing that you were never getting SD data for Laff, maybe you were just getting a bit of EPG data from the OTA signal. And the SD EPG data should be tied to the StationID and the physical or channel number shouldn't matter - at least that is the way that I thought it works.

I was able to remap the channels - WIVB is now 32-4-1 and Laff is 32-4-2. For me the guide data came across. The ID number for Laff appears to be 106013 but I don't think you can manually set that. Try scrolling through the list of channels to look for Laff - but that is painful as they don't seem to be sorted.

If you are talking about the Remap Channel screen then the default is to sort by Channel Number but I always change the Station List Sorting Method to Station Name so that I can find them. That screen is reached by the Options button from Channel Setup screen. If that is not what you were talking about then ignore this post.

Hmmm... Not sure why Laff wasn't setup when I did my scan then since it worked for you. I may try a rescan this weekend and see if Laff auto corrects. Otherwise my manual override is working fine so I'm not too bothered.

Cheers
Lester
