Remote PC question NEWBIE

My PC is not in the same room as my Home Theatre and I do not want to build a second PC as an HTPC. It would be approximatley a 25' run for any cable.

Some questions.

1) Is the PVR 350 s-video in and out?

2) Can I run the S-Video cable that far without signal lose?

3) What about the IR sensor remote for the 350. Can that be extended and run into another room as well.

4) What about support for MP3's is that through the S-Video cable as wel?

I would appreciate any advise.

1. Yes, but I have only used the S-video in. Seems Ilike I have seen some posts where users were not happy with S-video out.

2-4. unknown by me.

Have you considered the Hauppauge MediaMVP? I think it may be better suited for your use.

Hmmm...well I would like to have the PVR capabilities and the Media player does not offer that. I really want to have TIVO like ability as well as play my MP3's through my stereo

svideo should be fine at 25'
and you can extend the remote cable
you just need to search the forum
but it just buying the 1/8" cable extentions
mot sure a pvr 350 can playback mp4 at all with out a workaround
also you need to connect the audio as well svideo does not transport audio only video

not sure if the audio will make it though
it might

and why calgar did you post this "Seems Ilike I have seen some posts where users were not happy with S-video out"

why would you not suggest to use the hardware decoder at least with a SDTV?

Thanks....hmmm did not realize that I needed the RCA to go that far as well....

Are their any other options when the PC is remote from the 5.1 reciever and TV and still keep the TIVO capabilities?

MP3 is my music libray....I thought sage supported that as well.

Because I recalled one, I was unable to locate the post. However in the seach for it, I did find a post stating that the 350 S-video output was great. Therefore, I withdraw that comment, I did use seems.

I recommended the mediaMVD because I think the cost of all of the needed cables would equal or exceed the MediaMVD cost. I have a client computer that I could move and use an another 350 card but I think I would be more likely to go with a MediaMVP. I may change my mind when I get around to making that decision.

sage does support the pvr 460 but does it suport the playback of mp3s
I do not think it does

it would be easier to get a MVP though
nice call

I've seen several wireless audio/video/remote extenders floating around similare to this one .

Not sure how well they work, but would be interesting to hear if anyone has used one with SageTV and a PVR-350.

Since it also acts as a remote extender, you should be able to use the 350's remote also.

As I said, there are several other brands/models out there, but I have no idea how well any of them actually work.
