Need to rebuild from scratch, so I want to do it right...

Just had the VM that I had Sage on go bad, (totally lost it), so for the first time in a decade or so I need to do a complete reinstall of sagetv from zero.

Is there a dock anywhere?

Previously I think I started with v5 maybe and updated that, then got the cable card, and installed the internal tuner, then upgraded, then switched to the CETON network tuner and installed OPEN DCT, then switched to the new program guide after sagetv's ended...

So I did all of these things as they came up, but have no solid recollection of how to do any of them.

Also, I don't know if OPEN DCT is still the right choice.

Any and all input is greatly appreciated, and particularly any step by step with as much of the components that I need!

Thanks all!

Take a look at this subforum:

https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=54

I am guessing you're using Windows? If so look at the sticky, or the 64bit thread, (the latter still a work in progress I believe).

OpenDCT is what you want for the network capture.

You may also want to consider moving to unRAID and using the SageTV and OpenDCT dockers.

Thanks, I'd love to do the 64bit, but anything with ANY potential for added trouble at this point I'll pass! Thanks much!

IMHO the way to go is unRAID. And you can use the server for so much other stuff as well.

I have to agree with Wayner - UNRAID server using the DVB Edition and SageTV Docker is rock solid - you will never go back to a Windows server for SageTV.

And, like Wayner says, you can do SO much with an Unraid Server and the dockers.
