UnRaid 6.5.3

Hi,
I saw earlier posts of issues with unRaid upgrades. Can anyone confirm the latest 6.5.3 is good to go for SageTV?
Thanks,

Agree just updated 6.5.1 to 6.6.6 last weekend. Working fine.

What are the recommended steps for upgrading to a newer version of unRAID?

I used the DVB plugin to upgrade to the LibreElec version of unRAID 6.6.6 - had Hauppauge HVR-2250's so needed drivers from LibreElec version. Since I wasn't using that unRAID server for SageTV at the time - the version of SageTV on it was out of date too. So I reinstalled the SageTV Docker from Community Applications on unRAID. But I would imagine it would just work if you upgraded the OS with or without the DVB plugin.

I have been fine on 6.6.6 using HD-PVR’s only with the LibreELEC DVB version.

I am also using the LibreElec version of unRAID, because when I moved to unRAID my cable provider was still offering QAM channels in-the-clear. They are no longer offering that, and I have removed my HVR-2250's from my system. Nonetheless, I am thinking that I should stick with the LibreElec version, as it probably does not hurt anything.

So as far as upgrade steps, here's what I'm thinking:
  • Shut down unRAID
  • Take a backup of the unRAID USB Drive
  • Bring unRAID up, with all dockers stopped
  • Click the "update" button for the unRAID DVB Edition plugin
  • If prompted, select the LibreELEC option for the upgrade
I am on the current version of the SageTV and OpenDCT dockers, so no update should be necessary there.

Any additional steps that I should be considering?

I've never backed up the USB when upgrading. Unraid automatically backs up the current installed version when it does an upgrade. So if you need to go back to your previous version you can do that in the web UI or in a pinch by putting the thumb drive into a different computer and copying the backup over the new version.

Not sure the DVB plugin does this since I was recommending upgrading through the plugin instead of via unRAID itself.

Sounds like a good plan to me. I also like to take a backup of the USB drive but I do that on a scheduled basis so I often don't when I upgrade since I have a backup from a week prior at most. Can't really think of anything else except maybe backing up the dockers and VM's with CA Backup.

I upgraded to Unraid DVB Edition 6.7.0rc4 LibreELEC
Everything seems fine with my HD-PVRs

I think I am still on unRAID 6.5.1 as I haven't paid much attention to this stuff for a while. Any advantages to upgrading to unRAID 6.7 or 6.6?

I did it for security patches - updated GUI - better handling of Dockers & Vm's

I am also one of those people that cannot resist the URGE to update - ha!

Thanks Dwight - I used to be one of those people but I have neglected my computer hardware recently.

I haven't noticed any. I upgraded from 6.5.? to 6.6.7 recently just because some plugin was complaining and I have fix common problems email me these things nightly. If I recall when I read the release notes it was mostly kernel/security updates, bug fixes for things that I don't think I had noticed, new hardware and GUI changes. That said it didn't hurt anything either.
