Closed Captions - Can You Adjust Color, Opacity and Size??

It took some reading on this site but I got closed captions working nicely.

I'd like to change the color and opacity (of the area behind the CC's) as well as the size.

In Setup, under Customize, I've been to the CC options but changing them has no effect on what is on the screen, whether I choose External or Embedded. That said, after playing with Ext vs Emb last night, it looks like External places all CC's at the bottom of the screen an Embedded places each person's lines above their head. Since I haven't spent much time, I don't know if that's a particular show broadcasting that way or a permanent feature. I hope it's permanent 'cuz I like it.

As far as I can see, the only changes the CC options dialog allows is size and position, there's nothing for color or opacity.

Can these three options be changed and really make it happen on-screen? If so, how?

PS: I searched the forums (and Mr. Google) for an answer and couldn't find one. If it's been posted before, please point me at it and accept my apologies.
