Sean, thanks for all you have done. Some mighty impressive work you have here. Sometimes we just have to let things go. Good luck in all you do.

Casting miniclient

I guess it’s not likely the mini-client will ever be a cast-able app?

It's not likely that I'll be doing that... but, someone else can certainly make it happen.

I just read about your departure in a separate thread. Thanks for hanging in there for as long as you did. I've been a satisfied Sage user for almost 10 years now. And still on the original memory starved Pentium 4 driven machine that was probably too old for its own good when I started. It's an efficient product and as I'll probably be the last Sage user, I'll volunteer to turn the lights out when I leave.

Cheers, mate.

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I too will miss your very impactful contributions to SageTV. I completely understand your decision.

I'm sure users have noticed my lack of presence, but I haven't quit yet. I'm just taking a break. Raising an almost 2 year old child is an amazing experience, but also hard work and lately I just want to relax when I finally have some down time.

I get reports on the number of Schedules Direct users saying they use SageTV and the number of people actually syncing and it has been dropping by about 15 users a month for the past several months. This trend seems to correlate fairly well with increased movement from broadcast/cable TV which is the big thing SageTV is good at. I'm sure some of those users just moved to other PVR solutions, but I imagine most just dropped PVR completely. It's not surprising that this is one of the reasons we lose developers.

Are you allowed to share how many users are currently syncing SageTV with Schedules Direct?

Seeking/Skipping is a little slower, but not terrible. I'm going to stick with plex for a bit, but my ultimate goal is to actually move to Jellyfin. When I moved to SageTV I chose it because of how "open" the platform was. It wasn't open source, but, it was "open". Right now, I think Jellyfin is the only solution that is really open, but I want to see how well that takes off. For now, it's all Plex.
Just so we know.... I’m now using the brilliant Mini Client with Amazon Firesticks. If Amazon does something to change the way 3rd party apps communicate, will you still make an update, or are you going completely hands-off, aka another SageTV member will have to retool the Mini Client? Thanks again for your great app.

I haven't seen anything saying I can't. 1249 users report that they are using SageTV.

Is that users or servers? I have three SageTV servers all updating the schedule with SD but only one of them is really used. The two backups may occasionally record a show from one of my HDHRs - they are more used as backups in case there is an issue with my primary server - my kds can still watch their recorded movies/shows.

Just users. They also have a synced last 14 days number, but that's almost the same number and doesn't distinguish servers per user either.

I'm not saying I won't do an update... but, the odds are slim, and I'd defaintely work with and help someone else that wanted to do an update. But depending on my schedule, if I were free, I'd do the changes... I just don't see myself as being "free" for the next couple years because I have a couple of other side projects (unrelated to sagetv or media) that I'm also involved in, so, it makes it hard to find the time to invest here.

OK, thanks for clearing that up. I wish I knew how to code, because I have the time - just not the way my brain works
Hopefully someone will keep the Mini Client running, because it's a great addition to Sage, likely the best one...

Wow!

I obviously don't get on these forums much anymore, but that is more because my SageTV system is so stable. We still use it as our primary TV viewing source.

Sean - THANK YOU for you many years of selfless support of SageTV. You created many of the parts that made SageTV so good in our household. It's a sad day hearing the news, but I completely understand. Again, thank you. Best wishes for you and your family.

Sorry to see you go.

Wish I had time to take over your projects but I don't have time for anything beyond keeping my servers running.
