Raspberry Pi 3 + Android + Miniclient
I stumbled upon these instructions today and got the miniclient working on a Raspberry Pi 3. I did my testing on a 20 inch monitor and the video quality of recordings seemed OK, live video had some tearing though.
Might be worth experimenting with if you have a spare Pi lying around. |

That's really cool! Anything special to watch for while installing?
Were you using the Pi 3, 3 A+ or 3 B+ ? Wired or wireless? --John |

The prior post uses a commercial OS (Emteria) for the Raspberry Pi 3 family.
I ran across this new build of the Lineage OS (Android) for the Raspberry Pi 4. It is a work in progress, and graphics and video are not properly supported yet. The author says "This build is not suitable for media device use or graphics..." Keep an eye on it and maybe eventually it could be used?

I was waiting for this for a long time, but proper hardware video acceleration always seems to be an issue. And I am a HUGE Raspberry Pi enthusiast as I have bought at least ten of them through they years.
Why not buy a MiBox that uses AndroidTV from Walmart. They are $55 which is about the cost of a kitted out Pi - once you add case, power supply, microSD card, HDMI cable, etc.
