Software question
Is there freeware out there that can take two copies of a movie and grab the audio from one and the video from the other and combine them into a single output file?
For instance, if I download a 1080p version of a movie from PlayOn (limited to stereo), and I already own the DVD and have it in SD but DD5.1 sound, I would like to take the 1080p from the downloaded file and the 5.1 sound from the DVD rip and combine them into a 1080p/DD5.1 movie. Is there freeware that can do this easily (and well)?

I think VideoReDo does this but you have to pay for that. But sometimes the timing could get slightly off as one of the files might be running a bit fast.

ffmpeg also allows you to demux both videos and then mux the streams you want into one video file. ffpmg is a little cryptic to use. An alternative I have used recently is MP4box. There are also GUIs for MP4box if you do not like command line parameters.

Quote:
Once in MKV format, MVKToolNix can mix & match video, subs & audio as needed. Be aware of differing frame rates between 2 source files, as stretching/compressing may be needed to match in target output. Videohelp is a great resource for finding more obscure tools. |
