The End of Pay TV

Here is an interesting blog post that is a few months old that talks about the demise of traditional Pay TV and the rise of OTT services.

The writing's been on the wall for sometime now. I'm surprised it's taken this long. There was a lot of public criticism when ATT bought TimeWarner, but it looks like their one smart move. It's an inevitable conclusion to such mass consolidation.

And I don't think it's limited to PayTV distributors. Once broadcasters fully implement ATSC 3 they'll find out just how few people are actually watching their channels and see how their local market monopoly doesn't apply when their competitor is the Network itself.

Long article. Good read.
