Random Slide Shows
I have random slide shows come on after being on pause for a while. I have noticed I never see all the pictures and am wondering if there is a maximum number or size of each picture maximum that I have past. I am using the newest server build from late last year, but I think this may have always been occurring. I have 1100+ pictures in the folder that is used. Most of them are 2-3 megabytes in size. I have been thinking I should run them all thru a resolution shrink-er to make the file sizes smaller but before I try that I wanted to know if I am already at some limitation of the software or not.
I am using the Shield TV with the newer fork of the SageTV client. If anyone knows how these picture things work it would be great. I have been reading posts about the rotation of pictures as I see that random pics are upside down, that never were fairly often. -Bill

Some time ago I looked into why there are sometimes runs of the same folder of pictures (which I actually like) versus completely random.
In the STV I found it uses "java_util_Collections_shuffle(SlideShowList)" to shuffle the original list. I found some discussion online about the randomness of doing that and how it can be improved with repeated calls to the shuffle function. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/...seem-to-deny-t I assume that with a single call to shuffle there is a tradeoff between time consumed and randomness and that with a large list it ends up a bit less random.

I don't think there's a limitation, other than what I mentioned above about a practical one with the shuffle algorithm being a little less random.
I much prefer random even as it is. I'm not even sure what order is used without it or if it's the same pictures every time from the same starting point without random.
