Converting OTA shows to MP4 Files without Play back Issues

I travel 6 months of the year so I transcode OTA shows (MPEG2-PS is what sagetv shows the format) with ffmpeg.exe and have them uploaded to a local DVR using the newest android mini client on a shield or chromecast device. But often (and lately all) of them have issues on playback, mostly I cannot skip, if I do, it restarts the video at the beginning.

I've been using this line in a batch file for many years now:
FOR %%g IN (*.mpg) DO ffmpeg -n -i %%g F:\HOLDMP4\%%~ng.mp4

I am wondering if I need other switches to transcode it correctly for the newer miniclients to work without that no skipping issue.

I have been trying a lot of older ffmpeg builds lately to see if that makes a difference. All the way back to v3.2.

I used to need to use this version too keep things working on the old HD200's ffmpeg-20171105-6ea7711-win64-static but somehow my copy of this version was overwritten by 13 month newer files and I cannot find that version on the internet. The site that use to host them closed during the pandemic. zero...

I also loaded the new transcode plugin. I cannot use convert to make high quality or good quality h.264 mkv's. I will try unloading that plugin to see if that will work after my latest external transcode test finishes. I will also double check and test the 2 video players in the miniclient, but the last time I checked, it didn't make a difference.

Any ideas?

Does the SageTVTranscoder.exe program work for what you are doing? It’s basically ffmpeg (old version) with SageTV additions.

The new SageTVTranscoder.exe program is FFMPEG 4.

Josh, I have the original v9.2.6 version of the sagetvtranscoder working inside sagetv using convert. But once I upgrade to your new winx64bit sagetvtranscoder plugin the convert jobs fail immediately. Are they supposed to work after installing your plugin? I checked your github repository and could not find the readme to see if there was something I needed to edit to make this work when running a convert.

From Josh ...

Known Issues:
Some of the built in transcoding profiles in SageTV use deprecated/removed command line arguments. You will need to add your own custom profiles at this time for the transcoding profiles that are not working.

Thank You, I actually got them working this morning by picking MP4 instead of MPEG4. I am now testing the sizes of files created.

I re-read the thread on the new Transcoder and it says I need a new JAR file, but nowhere in the thread can I find a link or even the name of the JAR file.

I see it referenced a few times in that long thread.
