X10/Lola remote range problems.

Hi all. For a while now I've had the X10/Lola (aka Remote Wonder) running Sage/Girder without trouble. This was on a Dell P3-800.

I upgraded the hardware to an Athlon XP 1600 - an Asus A7V-133C motherboard. (which was my old desktop system) Did a fresh install of XP latest drivers, etc.

I now find that the range of the remote is just about zero - it has to be within a few inches of the receiver to do anything.

I've tried seemingly everything - batteries, USB hubs, a 16 foot cable with a USB hub at the end, to get it as far away from the PC as possible (suspecting interference), and a different USB PCI card.

No results!

I'd hate to have to buy a USB-UIRT since this was working fine. Any ideas? (and in the event that I do have to buy a UIRT, will a 16' extension be OK?)

thanks for any help you guys can give!
