Newly recorded shows deleted
I've seen this occur three times recently.
I tell Sage to record a show. Later, the show is not listed in the Sage Recorded Program section and it's not on the disk. I have run file recovery programs when this happens and what I find are 0 byte files with consecutive numbers - just like if recording is interrupted during the show, but there are usually 5 or more. Each time, the time stamp difference between files is something like 5 minutes 6 seconds (it's almost exact). Each time it has happened, I've had plenty of space on my drive (12 + GB). Any ideas on what's causing this? The show that got screwed up tonight was especially important, and it won't be replayed so I am pretty much out of luck and *very* disappointed. System specs: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ 1 GB RAM Win XP Pro, SP2 The specs I listed above supercede the specs listed in my signature.

12GB is hardly enough to record much of anything. I'll have to assume you meant 120G.
Also, it would be best to put the recording directory/folder on a seperate partition or better yet on a seperate 2nd hard drive. Be sure to turn off the recycle bin and system restore for that drive also, otherwise those will use up drive space and SageTV will not know how much it really has to work with. |

Also, just a thought, but if he really did mean 12 gb, then he could have easily ran out of hd space if a couple shows were recorded after the one in question. If he didn't turn off auto-delete, then that could be why it 'disappeared.' paulr: If you look under the favorites manager there's an option for auto-deleting of a show/favorite, set it to 'manual,' or no, or whatever the option is for it to NOT auto delete. Whatever the option is, it should be there if you search around a little. Then again, this might not be your problem

I had 12GB for the show last night which was only 30 minutes long, so it was plenty of space. Normally I have more like 40GB. My Sage recording folder is on a seperate hard disk with no recycle bin or system restore.
The show in question was not a favorite. It was a one time recording job - local news. Is there a way to make a one time job not auto-delete? I didn't want to add it as a favorite. The strange thing is that it seems like the show was actually not recorded properly. All of the files the file recovery software found were 0 bytes.

if you use mlbdude's STV you can set it up as a favorite with a time slot to record

I have had that problem with a bad encoder (250). Moving it to a new PCI slot and reloading the drivers took care of it for me.

I'll give that a shot. Thanks!

Update: I *think* I figured out what is causing this, but I have not figured out how to "fix it", other than rebooting...
I have been playing a PC game called Sacred for a little while now, and I am pretty sure that I have narrowed this recording error down to something that happens during after after a game... If I reboot *before* Sage is scheduled to record a show, things seem to be okay. If I do not reboot, then there is a chance that it will not record a show properly (it doesn't happen every time). So, am I stuck with making sure I reboot after I play games, or is there something else that might be going on? Ideas? All my drivers are up to date...

Small possibility:
It could be goofing with directx, you might want to try disabling 3D Accelleration in Sage and see if it helps. |

Doom 3 has trashed 3 recording for me this week
they were not deleted but they were in fast foward mode were I got one second of normal speed then 3 seconds of fast speeds playback then one second of normal playback and so on going to have to turn down the quality levels of Doom 3 if I want to keep playing on this computer |

Hopefully soon I'll have my HTPC finished and I won't have to worry about any of this stuff anymore.
