Hi, new Sage TV user here. Looking for some hardware tips. TIA!

My system:

Windows XP Pro SP2
SageTV 2.0 of course :-)
Pentium 4 2.53Ghz
512 MB DDR2700 RAM (2x256)
Intel D845PEBT2 MB
NVIDIA GeForce4 TI 4200 128 MB Card (Latest Nvidia drivers)
WinTV-PRV 250
Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Gamer
2x 120 MB 7200RPM WD HD
1x 100 MB 7200RPM WD HD
Lite-On CD-RW Drive
Sony 4x DVD-RW Drive

I am looking for any good tips on optimizing my TV captures. I hear something about 64k cluster sizes on NTSF drives?
Any help would be great!

Also this evening I was getting some hissing sounds and the sould kept on cutting out even though it looked/sounded great on the regular TV!

I checked the connection on the WinTV card and it was in all the way and tight.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

Moondog

sonic decoders and 64kb clusters are a good place to start

not sure about the hissing

is the PVR 250 beside the video card or sound card?

try to move it as far away as possible from these

The one thing anyone can do that will give the biggest improvement IMO, is to calibrate the capture color settings. The link in my sig has a guide on my preferred way to do it.

Stanger89 gave me a good tip that will save you time later.

Set up a bunch of partitions ...

Such as;

C: 20gb (4k Clusters) OS and Software

D: 200gb (64k Clusters) SageTV Recordings

E: 100gb (64k) Imported Video

F: 50gb (4k) Imported Picrures

G: 30gb (4k) Music Jukebox MP3's

H: 20gb (4k) C Drive Backup

Also, I recommend the latest Happuage Drivers. They've recently been upgraded.

Other cool things to do are MlbDude and Malore UI and feature Sage customizations. Also, the weather plu in is great.

Enjoy ... T.

Thanks guys!

I actually have 3 partitions on 3 sperate HD's for a total of 217 gugs of space for SageTV!

I guess 4k block size is the default for NTFS? Anyway to change that without a reformat? :-)

I just bought a WinTV-PVR 250 and in stalled it with the latest drivers of course.

I dont know what those other things are you mentioned? Are they something I can download and from where?

Thanks again!

you can change the cluster size within windows

right my computer and manage

but this will delete the files on the partition

or partition magic

which will not delete the files
