Live TV not working on server or client

I swear my PVR is conspiring against me getting into work on time...

Just changed it to load on startup yesterday.. having had one recording session record with NO sound i am checking it each morning... tried to this morning... connected to server fine... looked at guide to make sure some programs were recording... the recording schedule was populated at this point... going back to main menu and clicking/selecting livetv no response... wondering if the window wasn't in focus or something.. clicking again... no joy..

Going back into the guide.. the recording schedule is now blank and is shorter in height... there is no space for the programs in recording schedule...

I've tried clicking on livetv on the server and the client... neither work... the recording schedule corruption only occurs on the client though..

I've restarted the client multiple times, restarted the server multiple times... done everything but reboot either machine... very frustrating... the tv card is on my new PC... windows XP.. fresh install.. nothing else installed except speedfan, and radmin (to let me monitor it.. but soon to be replaced with a KVM)

I think it would be great if SageTV put up a dialogbox for when LiveTV doesn't succeed in doing whatever its doing.. logs are available i guess... will have a look tonight... i am not expecting it to successfully record anything today though...

I still get glitch problems with the PVR-250s recordings but on the whole i am happy with the whole setup... i am just not very confident yet in its ability to simply work unmonitored....

I just looked at the server...

the sagetv_0.txt file is 1.6gig

also there is a hs_err_pid1324.log file...

I need something that will let me open such a big file.. something to stream it, and let me jump to the end too.. dont fancy scrolling through all of that with less

anyone help??

Are you running the same version on the client and the server?

I've attached a file which will let you extract the end of the server log. Put TailCopy.class in the SageTV folder. Then go to DOS and cd into the SageTV directory. Then type:
java TailCopy sagetv_0.txt sagetv_0tail.txt 5000000

And it'll copy the last 5 MB of the file to sagetv_0tail.txt. Then we can see what's in there. (it works with other sizes and filenames too)

Cool. I fixed that one 2 days ago. It's resolved in the build that we released today, 1.3.7RC1. Use that and it should work fine.

Thanks.

very cool... could you just hint at what was causing it... or was it some really obscure internal thing thats part of a system that has no connection to the user.. just wondered if it was caused by the user or schedule doing something different....

1.3.7 RC1.. thats on the beta page!?? and... ohh right.. that is the release candidate file you talk about elsewhere.... cool
