Swing/UI suggestion
Somewhere down the line you might want to look at the Kunstoff Look and Feel for the "Detailed Setup" dialog. It's a lot nicer than Metal or Motif .
I've gotten nice feedback on it from my users @ work and found it stable. Plus, it's light (~43K) and LGPL. Sample pic at: http://www.incors.org/display_image....e=netbeans.png main site: http://www.incors.org M |

You can already change the PLAF that SageRecorder uses.
Just set the swing_plaf property in the SageRecorder.properties file to be the full path name of the PLAF class. The two other ones that come with Windows besides the current one are: com.sun.java.swing.plaf.motif.MotifLookAndFeel com.sun.java.swing.plaf.windows.WindowsLookAndFeel I just tried it with the one you suggest and it looks great. Just put the kuntstoff.jar file in your jre\lib\ext directory and set the swing_plaf property to be com.incors.plaf.kunststoff.KunststoffLookAndFeel Cool that this is under GPL. We just might have to include this in our distirbution. Thanks.

Of course now I just realized that you posted this in the SageTV forum...that doesn't work in SageTV currently. I'll crosspost it over to SageRecorder forum. Whoops.

One other quick thing;
I originally found kunstoff a while ago while searching for a more XP-style lnf. I am now aware that java 1.4 apparently includes 2 new lnfs: Windows XP and GTK+. GTK+ is interesting in particular, because it seems it may support the skinning capabilites of that UI. I realize a skinnable Sage is in the works for v2.0, but imagine if the universe of skins at sites like http://www.themes.org was suddenly available... More details on the 2 new lnfs at http://www-106.ibm.com/developerwork...73/?ca=dnt-421 Mike |
