Live TV problems
Hello!
I've been running SageTV 2.0 without a hitch for months now, until just last week. I am now unable to watch Live TV. I can still watch pre-recorded shows and I can record new shows, but I can't watch anything live. I am running Sage TV ver 2.021 with 3 pvr-250's on Win XP Pro SP 1. The CPU is AMD Athlon 1900 (1.4 ghz) with 512 MB of Ram on a Asus A7V266-E motherboard. TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS TAKEN: 1. I thought the problem might be with the .stv file I was using, so I switched back to the original .stv file. No change. 2. Then, I upgraded to SageTV 2.021, still no change. 3. Then I upgraded my via chipset drivers, but still no change. Any ideas? |

Can you still HEAR the show or not? (I know you cant SEE it).
If you CAN HEAR IT, go into the detailed setup and toggle between 4:3, 16x9, source and fill. IF the screen comes to "life" while doing that, set it to your preference and then set Horzontal and Vertical stretch to something small like 50%. The picture should pop up in the middle of the screen. Then gradually enlarge it and ofsett it til it's where you want it. I had this same issue just the other day when I reset up my SAGE box. If you can't hear any sound, ignore what I say, you have some other issue thats keeping tv from starting.

Ok...it started working, and now it's crashed again, however this time it gave me an error message:
"There was a DirectShow Filters Error in playback. Details: Unable to set the file in the dump filter. Err Code=0x80070070" Any ideas? |

yeah you have either your video render or decoder and/or your audio decoder or render incorrectly configured

if you do have Win XP maybe you can recover back in time system to the settings you had earier... I had similar problem where I restarted my windows and it could not find one of my PVR-250 cards, all I did was I went to control pannel, "performance and maintenance" window and then on the left side of that window there is "system restore" Click on it, if you did not disable disk restore on your HD then you should be able to recover back in time to the configuration that might work... be careful since you will loose everything on the HD from the time that you will recover your system from until today. So lets say you have restore point on the Aug 27th and today is Aug 31 then you will loose all the changes that happend on your HD in between those dates, but depending if this is important for you or not you can chose to go for it or not... Thats what I do if I get into trouble with my sage, I do recover day earlier or so...

Ok, this is wierd, sometimes my live tv DOES work, but other times it doesn't. And it is very annoying. If it is my video renderer, etc. would that happen? And if so, how do I configure those correctly?

to start with I would use the default STV from Sage
and then choose overlay video render with intervideo non css decoder for video and audio audio render I would use your sound card if you have no problems with these settings you will at least have a beginning and then can change things from there also remember if you do not use the reload media player option after changing anything related to these settings then next time you wake SageTV you could get an error because the setting was incorrect but you did not load the setting not all decoders can you all renders and not all decoders can use all DXVA modes or Deinterlacing modes and sometimes these settings are relative to the render as well |
