M3U playlist import

Is it possible to import M3U playlists into the Nielm STV? If so what folder do I put the playlists in in order to use them? Thanks.

The reason for a whole lot of view but no answers is, Nielm would have to answer a timeframe. And asking why it isn't available yet is a bit demanding, and I'm sure we don't want to make our STV writers mad by demanding new features .

It would be a nifty feature, but I'm guessing only about 10% of my MP3's have M3U's with them. It'll be nice when everyone has Studio, and if it's extensible via Java, expect to see just about everything under the sun added (hopefully a NEW mp3 player, the one included is extremely basic and difficult to use).

I think you are confusing ID3 and M3U. M3U is the playlist file format. ID3 is the identifier tag that is part of the actual sound file.

By the way, what is the format for playlists that the Jukebox currently uses? Where are the playlist files stored?

Thanks!

Nope, I know what the difference is. If you make your own CD's, and rip a M3U with the CD, then yep, you'll have 'em. But in my experience, only a small percentage of CD's I have gotten from other means have m3u's with them.

I definitely wish there was an easier way to play a whole CD from within the player, but I'm not holding out much hope for the near future for that to happen..

What I am talking about is creating a playlist in Winamp, which creates an m3u playlist. If these could be recognized, it would be alot easier than making playlists in Sage and could be a workaround until the whole jukebox gets revamped.

No STVs have M3U playlist import... I have no plans to add it for the moment (I am working on other things!)

M3U Playlist

My 2 Cents: I think not having the ability to read M3U playlists is a major disadvantage. The Sage Music player is very difficult to use and very basic. Almost every other music player on the can read these playlist files. On of the major Sage assertions is that it is a general MEDIA player.

I think it was a fair question for the makers of Sage to let us know how Sage stores its own playlists.. and why does it not conform with the industry standard (M3U).

I'll send them a question about it and let you know what I find out.

I would really like this. Don't care who adds it.

I've totally restructured the ways music is played in the meekell stv. I'm planning on releasing the next version with this functionality this weekend.

The functionality it includes is a purely playlist based way of using the jukebox, much like MusicMatch and many others. Each song selected is queued in the default playlist. More info about this will be posted with the release.

The major downfall in my opinion with SageTV's playlists is that if you remove and re-add the libraries, though the songs are still shown in the playlist they are no longer playable. I want to add the ability to refresh these playlists in this case.

I will also look into m3u importing/exporting. If there are any programmers here looking to help with this let me know. I have many other things that are at a higher priority right now so help with this could speed up the process.

very cool! This is not a priority for Sage, so I think we are on our own with this feature.
