Newbie with 2 questions - please help
I am using SageTV to record from a proprietary satellite system for homeschool classes. I need to manual record several times throughout the day/night, then burn these classes individually to DVD+RW to play in a standard DVD+RW player. Here are two questions.
1) Can I name the files something that I can understand? The names are very archaic, especially if they are not coming from EPG, which I cannot. I want to name them upon recording so that I can see what they are, rather than just seeing the jumble of numbers it presently does. I do not need Sage to keep track of them because I will not be watching them on Sage, but on a standard player. 2) What is the fastest way to burn to a DVD that will play in a standard player? I have figured out that I cannot click-and-drag. What is the closest alternative? I don't need menus or anything else. I have used two different utilities that came with my Dell, but everything seems to have to convert the video from Sage and that takes forever. Sage is creating a MPEG that seems to be fine, but these utilities still think they need to convert it. Thank you for any help, Wayne Last edited by whardy7; 09-03-2004 at 06:46 PM. |

use Ulead Movie Factory that comes with the pvr 250s
it does not reencode if the file is DVD compliant and you can name the files during the burning wizard in Ulead Womble MPEG2VCR and Video ReDo can edit the files without reencoding as well |

What does DVD compliant actually mean? Ulead is what I am using, but it sure goes thtough a lot of process before it actually starts burning. I am using only one video clip and no menus, so there shouldn't be anything it needs to add is there? Are there certain settings I need to specify for Sage or Ulead? Can I use any of the DVD options (extended play, etc.) in Sage?
As for naming the files, I would like to name them when I specify them in the timed reecording. I record about 12 classes over two days and it is just about impossible to tell them apart by the name. I need them by the time I get into Ulead so that I know what to choose. I thought I read something about being able to specify a naming convention in the config file or using some utility. One more question? how do I enter my own EPG data? that might take care of it for me. I need to put in a schedule that stays the same every week and is only for four channels. Is that possible? Thanks for the help. |

Quote:
make sure the video is small enough to fit on a DVD though also there is a check box on the second screen of Direct to Disc click the check on the bottom of the screen and make sure the do not convert DVD compliant files is checked Quote:
just make sure you can find the listings on the website since your listings is proprietary almost seems like sagerecorder would be a better option with no EPG or XMLTV (if you cannot use XMLTV) |
