I would love to see some that are radically different. Something like this maybe .

I want to do it but I am no longer doing any unofficial STV work. If the Frey guys decide they want to do it and make it an official UI for SageTV I would be all over it.

I went from malore to maldude to neilm. I like the look and feel of mlbdudes and the functionality of malores. neilm managed to combine them well and add some nice features of his own. maldude was nice also, but there hasn't been an update in a while so it's missing features like weather suite and comskip.

This may not be the best location for this poll. I would think that the people that frequent the 'SageTV Customizations' forum would be alot more likely to use an alternate STV. You would have probably gotten alot more Original STV users if you had posted this in 'General Discussion' or 'SageTV Software'.

Is there an echo in here?

My post was in response to ToxMox's. But,my reference to 'this forum' really meant the entire forum.

Looks like it is staying around 4:1; custom STV : original STV.

I use both MlbDude2 and Neil 1.3 ... Both excellent ... but usually stay with MlbDude on my client.

mightyt,

Thanks very much for the great response to my question. It really helped me out a lot. If I would have realized that you could just use the STV's on the client and not the server, I would have been using these a long time ago.

I'd like to take this opportunity to post my thoughts on the poll. I think the results of the poll might be biased in favor of those using custom STV's. Although the results might show lots of votes from those using customs STV's, there might be an improper skew.

I think Jeff knows that the people that actively use these forums and takeing an active role in extending SageTV represent that 10% of users classified as "advanced" users.

I think he is looking to see what that 10% is doing .

I'd guess that the results are pretty accurate, as far as us forum users go, but I'd guess also that there are plenty of people who aren't active on this forum that are just using the default STV, either because they're happy with it, or don't know there are alternatives.

I've got to tell you, I'm still not convinced. I'm still not really comfortable with accuracy of poll. I think maybe we need some kind of follow up poll. This could be done with a second thread, or maybe one of the moderators could somehow stick a poll right in the middle of this thread. This poll would help us determine the number of advanced users versus normal users. I can do some charts and graphs. I have Paint Shop Pro.
