StarChoice receiver control?

Hi,

Anyone here using StarChoice? How do you get Sage to control the receiver?
I don't have StarChoice myself but I'm being asked whether control of the receiver by Sage is possible. Can anyone provide any pointers?

Regards
Lester

Even though I personally don't use it this should work for Starchoice as well as any other IR device you may have along with Girder.

Yep, I think you'll be going with the http://www.usbuirt.com/ methood. If you decide to attempt the serial port avenue, you’d better call Starchoice support first. I just got through messing with my Starchoice General Instrument box, buying cables, etc. Finally, I broke down and called support. The guy sort of laughed and informed me that the serial port in all, if not most of their boxes is an HDTV encoder interface –not a means to control it with your computer. He said their higher end box may provide that capability, but did not know for sure. He pointed out that the only box he’s heard of doing that is DirectTV. I have a USB-UIRT on order.
