What type of display do you use with Sage?

I've been inspired by all the discussion lately about dedicated TV outs (350, Xcard), OSD support, etc. It seems to me that the type of display you run has a lot to do with the value of these products.

So, without getting into a discussion of the merits of the Xcard/350 or OSD support for them, (there are plenty of other threads)...

What type of display do you use with SageTV. And if you use more than one you can select more than one option.

D##$ you're quick, you found the thread in the ~30 sec between me clicking Post Thread and finishing filling out the poll form

FWIW, I'm running an HDTV via Component, soon to be VGA breakout.

-edit, man you guys are fast, first salsbst found the thread before I had a chance to finnish filling out the poll form, then he deleted his post before I could reply, and we've had 3 more votes already.

Wow!

Yeah, I saw it show up after a bit. It's strange (frankly, bug-ish) that the thread is posted before you've configured the poll.

Me:

den: 32" CRT 4x3 at 1080i via 9600 / component
study: 15" (or thereabouts) CRT 4x3 at 480i via 5200 / composite

Just got a 61inch Samsung DLP (HLP6163W) hooked up via dvi cable.

using windvd 6 decoders running at 1280 x 720p

This is the first big screen ive owned, was using a 27". A little disapointed in PQ now with SDTV and SageTV, but i also kinda expected it to look worse than a 27".

of course the 720P HDWMV clips are breathtaking!

i have an old hollywood plus lying around but im not sure i want to go through the trouble of setting it up to play sage through.

I'm hooked up to a Panasonic CT-27HL14 27" TAU Series HDTV-Ready 4:3 TV via VGA out from my FX5200 to the Crescendo TC2000 transcoder then out via component to the TV running at 480p. Looks wonderful. Still using the Intervideo NonCSS decoders. I use NVDVD 2.55 for DVD playback.

I couldn't get past that split image issue I was having with 1080i. I may give powerstrip a shot when I get back from my honeymoon.

Congrats on the marriage...and enjoy the honeymoon.

Hopefully your new wife will be as understanding about you playing with SageTV as my wife has been...Once she got hooked on being able to watch her soaps while making dinner she was hooked.

HDTV (Mitsubishi) via SVideo

Tried a breakout cable but no luck so far. All I've gotten back from my current card manufacturer (Prolink Nvidia 440 8x) is them trying to sell me a new card. They say the new 6600 will have component out, but I couldn't see the connectors on the picture on their website.

Desktop resolution 800x600.

Try powerstrip, or if nothing else, with a newer card and the newer drivers, you should be able to get HD res going with a breakout cable.

I've got 2 HD displays. I have 42" Pioneer Plasma. I watch everything, including Sage stuff at 16:9. Artifacts are created with this stretch viewing, but I don't want to worry about burn-in. I know I could avoid with SageTV, with rotating display, but frankly, we are so used to watching SD stuff stretched, just live with.

The other display is a NEC HT1000 projector. It is actually XGA. Of course, here, the 4:3 stuff is displayed natively. The image quality is excellent. To give you an example, I record Nero Wolfe programming from the Biography Channel. I record off of DirecTV using a composite-in. I recently purchased the DVD set for this show. I can tell you that the stuff I record with SageTV is not far off the quality of the DVD. I am not saying it is as good, but it is pretty close. I imagine if I recorded S-video and at a higher bit rate (currently 2GB) quality would be even closer.

I am using using my Samsung 50" RP DLP with DVI from a NVidia 5600. DVDs look unbelievable - HDWMV looks even better! SDTV really looks poor - wish I could get DirecTV again (analog Comcast sucks)... darn condo association rules...

I am looking to buy the Sasem USB HDTV box (supports QAM reception). I know it doesn't work with STV - but I am working on circumventing that (software engineers force things to work...)
