QUOTE (pcalchemy @ Oct 12 2004, 09:26 PM)
A complete Windows XP MCE 2005 Starter Kit which includes Windows XP MCE 2005, the Microsoft MCE Remote, a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-250MCE card, and the nVidia NVDVD codec will be available on 10/13/2004 for the introductory price of $249 (a savings of $33 over buying separately).

I'm now wondering if pcalchemy will be offering the nvdvd decoders as a standalone product...

We should be offering the NVDVD codec standalone, will know for sure tomorrow, as we are still working on some contractual issues with the license. The NVDVD license issue is what has held up the release of the starter kit until tomorrow (hopefully it will not be any longer than that).
that will be sweet
I pulled this from the HTPCnews forum

I'll buy the codec from that (assuming it is a REASONABLE price).

I'de get it for testing, if nothing else. Just been waiting for someone to SELL it by itself.

So Kudos to PCAlchemy

Agree. Their other prices are fair so hopefully...

MS' change in the availability of MCE 2005 should make the coming months very interesting on the HTPC side of things.

Slightly OT, but I noted on the TGB forum that the new 2005 MCE remote can supposedly learn IR codes and has backlighting. Nothing official but thought that was interesting.

Well PCAlchemy has it listed in the bundles, but not alone yet, at least not that I could find.
