Unfortunately, no luck yet. I updated to the latest Sage beta. Also uninstalled the decoder. Verified that it wasn't a DirectShow filter with RadLight. Reinstalled decoder.
Video still plays fine, but no decoder interface. Now I don't even see it blink in the system tray. Nuts!! ![]() |

have you tried deleting the program folder after the uninstall
to make sure the new install is clean you can also try to do this with WMP if it is your default decoder or zoomplayer by setting it as your decoder to use |

Getting a little closer. At first WMP wouldn't load the NVidia decoder. I uninstalled the other codecs I had (Sonic, FFDShow) and now WMP properly pops up the NVidia system tray icon. Sage does not.
Also, if I adjust the brightness/color settings in the NVidia decoder, it doesn't seem to affect the video. (even if I exit and re-load WMP) Which makes me wonder if it's really using that codec - although I see the bitrate meter change when the video is playing. Very odd. |

I'm having the same issue, installed the decoders, however when I select them in the DVD menu and try to play a DVD I get a black screen.

Well I know for sure that it's using the NVidia codec. Because FF/RW causes the ghosting!!! So I rolled back to SP1. Seems OK now. The weird thing is that if I select the Video Post Processor, the systray icon comes up perfectly. (my FX5200 can't handle that mode properly, though) Go back to Video Decoder, no icon.
Haven't tried a DVD yet. |

Ya I see the decoder works in WMP no problem, however if I try to use it in Sage all I get is a blank screen. Maybe ther's a setting in the properties file thats missing??? or maybe a registry setting ???
ANy help is greatly appreciated |

what were the previous decoders. That may be causing you some problems and you may want to remove them all and reinstall the latest ones.

NVDVD Decoder, NVVPP, and FFDShow
How can you configure it so that Sage is using the NVDVD Decoder, NVVPP, and FFDShow?

Right now the only way is to select NVVPP as the decoder and default as the renderer, that should get the VPP in there, and ffdshow should insert itself.

NVDVD Audio Decoder Error
I've got the NVidia Video decoding working perfectly but now I'm having trouble w/ the Audio decoding. I get the following error:
There was a MPEG-2 Audio Error in playback. Details: Default rendering of output pin on selected MPEG2 audio decoder filter failed ErrCode=0x8007007e Anyone have any ideas on why this may be happening? I've got both NVidia video and audio working in Zoomplayer but can't figure out why Sage won't work. Also, I've set the properties to use SPID/F.

yeah just had it happen to me
you need to shut down SageTV completely stopping the service if you are using V2.1 and then open both sets of properties files for 2.1 (and of course just the one property file for 2.0) and remove your sound card from the ignore encoders line It just happen to me like I said, and now save each of them (or the one ) and restart SageTV, the service for 2.1 etc...... |

I too am unable to get the audio filter to work. I get the same error. I looked in my properties file and didn't find anything resembling ignore and the soundcard (?) I've tried restarting Sage and the PC a few times. I guess my next step is to uninstall/reinstall NVDVD.

my audio render was set to my sound card
and after restarting my computer I found my sound card in the ignore encoders line after removing that it was fine |

Hmm... I've tried all of the renders and none of them seem to work. The Sonic audio decoder works pretty well so I may not mess with it.

Selecting the VMR
I got the official NVidia decoders off their website the other day, and installed the patch to fix the chroma banding issue. So far so good - I have the same problem as everyone else with the audio filter (doesn't work - I get an error), but the Sonic audio filters work great, so that's not a problem. My setup is currently like this:
Selected "NVidia Video Post Processor" Using "Default" renderer I have ffdshow installed, so ffdshow inserts itself. So far so good, but in this setup, it ends up rendering to the overlay! Does anyone have any tips on how to get the "Default" renderer to use VMR? Selecting "prefer VMR9" in the NVidia control panel doesn't seem to do it. Thanks! I have a Pentium IV 2.8Ghz computer with an ATI 9700 Pro. |

There is a "... VMR9 problem on ATI cards. This has been identified as an ATI driver problem where for some unknown reason the VMR9 was unavailable. TheaterTek will now issue an error message if it encounters this but the solution is to do a clean driver removal and reinstall of Catalyst...."
The above came from http://www.theatertek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6289 My 9700 Pro system (latest Cat as of a week ago) acts screwie with NVDVD. I can run in Overlay (via Sage), otherwise it will 'quit to the desktop.' |

Im experienceing the same issue. with sound. It places itself on the ignore list by itself. Even after killing the service and the program and makeing sure they are not running. as soon as you restart sage it puts it back.
[quote] there was an playback error in playbac. details: sage.playbackexception: error (-5,0x80004005): There was a problem rendering the audio portion of the content for playback. it seems to happen with anything installed however. |

For FFDShow + the Nvidia Decoder, I have my video codec set to FFDShow Mpeg-4 Decoder. This in turn ends up using the Nvidia Decoder to decode the stream. The Nvidia icon shows up in the system tray. I'm able to use it with either Overlay or VMR9 on an ati card with no problem.
If you aren't getting the icon to show up, try going into your registry and find the Nvidia tree under local machine/software/nvidia or something like that. There should be a registry entry for DisableTrayIcon. Make sure that is set to 0. If its set to 1, you won't get the icon. If its still not using the nvidia codec, you'll need to evaluate all your mpeg2 decoders and see which one has highest merit. There are various programs you can use to manually change the filter merits. I use one called FilterManager (not sure where I got it from). I believe BsPlayer and Media Player Classic will both show you what decoders are chosen for displaying a stream (ie, the default decoders). I don't think you really need the Nvidia Post-Processor at all. Everything sage records is going to be video-based and will just use straight video-based deinterlacing (thats correct isn't it?). Which means the NVPP won't do a thing anyways. |
