so when you say "if you wanted," does that mean me, the average Sage user, or me if I were a studio developer?
If I can have a different background image now, can you clue me in to how i would go about doing that? is it possible to do with the dynamic menus? |

Just PVR?
Are you going to be focusing on the PVR portions? or will you include the Music stuff as well? If you are going to do the music stuff can you be bribed into somehow allowing us to click on an album and play an album of music w/o having to define a playlist??

Looks superb - I can't wait to try it out for size. I wonder if it will really have a different 'feel' to the normal sage interface?

Preview
Here is a link to a very early preview. Most of the My TV functionality is done but not all and not much is tested yet. I need to get small attractive icons for Don't Like and Watched. None of that is integrated yet so if you have anything you think would fit let me know.
To install, just unzip file contents to your OrigionalV2 folder and set your STV to SageMC.stv. Not much else besides My TV so don't expect much . Thanks! SageMC Alpha Preview 1 |

Actually it looks real good.
I like the look and feel of it. I will try to find some Icons and report back to you. I may even have some. Just playing around with it I noticed left does not take you back to the prev. menu. Keep up the good work and if you can get a simple, not too bloated, stable stv. it might just lure alot more people to use it. What I mean is I have tried too many stv with patches and workarounds I have a frankenstien version of Sage. I would like it to just be simple.....but then I wouldn't have a stroke by the time I am 36...arrghh too late..

The navigation in this STV will be different than the normal one. One change will be that Left and Right are not used for navigation. Just simple point and click with the Back command taking you back to the previous menu.
After a bit I am tired of all the options too. However, I am sure once this is done someone will take it and create some good "monsters" to satisfy everyone . |

Adding all the options into STVs is a pain in the but. It's where the real power comes from however.

Don't much matter to me though (I know how to use a remote), but those Tivo people got some hang up with wanting to use that Left button for some reason. |

Its looking superb, it ahs to be said mlbdude that you are good at 'slick' STV's. I'm not sure about the navigation not using the left/right buttons, but thats only because I don't have the 'back' button setup on my programmable remote.
I really like the look and more importantly 'feel'. I know this is only in the Alpha stages, so I'm sure you are working on loads of stuff. I would suggest making the menu less transparent, as when the TV is playing behind it gets a little confusing to the eye. Looking forward to beta release. Can't wait to see the music jukebox. keep up the good work |

The left and right navigation will not be going into the 1.x release of this. Mainly because I am trying to remain true to its MCE origins for now. I have been using MCE for a couple of weeks and have become accustomed to this as well and after it bit I like it better. This way for every menu there is always one and only one way to get back to the previous.
Not sure what I am going to do for video background users as this is also not an MCE feature. I may disable this all together. I will probably just leave it though and recommend you use the preview window. |

As for the My Music section I am not looking forward to that. Two features I love in MCE are flawless playback of MP3, and WMA as well as awseome integrated CD ripping. I will probably never be able to get Sage to do them since they are core issues.

mlb, i'm assuming that you're using mce 2005 (since you have cd ripping capability) my dad has mce 2004 and prefer sage over that by a wide margin.
how do you feel mce 2005 compares to sage? |

The reason I am doing this STV is so I can convince my wife (and me) to use Sage again instead of MCE . At this point as far as usability(every day normal usage) is concerned I think MCE wins hands down.
Sage still has better PVR technology though but it is not worth the cost of the UI. |
