Sources: Dish? DirecTV? Cable?
What do you think?
The thing attracting me to DTV is the serial control; what's an easy (new) receiver to do this with? Not sure about monthly fees, but 3-room system free. Dish: the svideo reciever is $100, plus (i think) $5/month. A two-tuner is like $6/month, but only one svid out.. other is only composite. Cable: Adelphia in my future area. Don't really know much, but like Time Warner now. |

I would ask for two of the same receivers
there no reason why they cannot give you the same ones with svideo output on both alot of them now have component, DVI, and VGA but this is bias poll I just put down what I use but digital will make better recordings than analogue |

When signing up for DirecTV ask what FREE recievers they are giving you, the free ones are missing features sometimes. Like serial control and component and dolby digital... you may end up buying your own receivers and paying extra.

well digital audio and component are pointless when using SageTV
only the serial port is important I do not own my DirecTV equipment I live in apartments where DirecTV has contracted with them so I just rent the equipment much like cable mine has no digital or component just serial Sony SAT B3 |

I'm using a Voom box (motorola) with USB-IRT control. Down-sampled HD out through the SVideo is exceptional!
