I've also tried everything I can think of, including a complete reformat and reinstal of windows XP. Gotallmedia works with both my Hauppauge PVR250mce and Adaptec Videoh!.

My gut feeling is that it's got to be something in our setups that got "broken" in the latest builds of Sage. So let's start listing some significant factors to see if we can see a common thread for those of us that have setups that won't tune that is different than those that aren't having trouble.
Here's mine: OS: W98SE PVR: PVR250. Old model with the heatsink Cable: Tuning with the PVR, no STB. Extended Basic Cable lineup Sage: Set to auto start minimized to the system tray IR: (intelligent recording) ON Decoder: Stock decoders installed by the Hauppauge Software Sound : SBLive OEM Driver: 1.18.21.22254 IRQ : 5 Same as Network card, and also 3 ACPI IRQ Holder for IRQ Steering This machine is strictly for PVR so there is very little software installed over the standard OS install, Hauppauge, and Sage. Anything else anyone can think of that might be significant?

Here is my setup. I did submit a bug on this one, got a response from Sage and then sent in my log file. But no solution yet.

Extended Basic Cable lineup Sage: Set to auto start minimized to the system tray IR: (intelligent recording) OFF Decoder: Stock decoders installed by the Hauppauge Software + Sound : SBLive Audigy Driver: 1.18.21.22254 Additional capture devices: MyHD, Firewire |

You guys could try upgrading to the latest driver found on SHS's site. It sounds like a driver problem problem to me.
Out of curiousity, if you fire up the Win2000 app and change the channel does it work. When you then fire up SageTV does it go to the channel you just watched in Win2000? If so try upgrading the driver. |

Channels change in Win2000 just fine. Sage tunes to the last Sage channel used (whatever it was before installing the latest Sage) That's another thing that tells me something in Sage got broken since it changes the channel BACK to whatever it thinks the last channel was and not what the last channel was in Win2000.
Since 2.1 works fine for many people and is absolutely broken for others like myself that makes me think that it's something in our specific setup that is highlighting the problem. Whether hardware (PVR version?), or software (settings in Sage). Looks like at least EJ and I have very similar setups. Same PVR board, SBLive audio cards, similar settings in Sage. I'll keep an eye out here, but right now I just can't pull 2.0 and go back to 2.1. Sage is set to record several items over the next couple days, and after just losing several days of recordings with my last attempt at 2.1....... Well you get the picture.

I've tried the latest drivers, I've tried the original drivers. I reinstalled everything multiple times. Wintv2000 works, gotallmedia works, Sage will not.
I've sent logs to support, they told me to remove the lines "mmc/country_code=XXX and mmc/video_format_code=XXX" from the properties file, I did, still not tuning. |

Try adding these registry key/values and see if it helps:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Frey Technologies\Common\AdditionalCaptureSetups\Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture\CaptureMask=2048 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Frey Technologies\Common\AdditionalCaptureSetups\Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture\ChipsetMask=2 And there should be no space in Hauppauge.

I sure hope I can get 2.0 running again.
I just did the following...... Backed up 2.0x Uninstall 2.0x Install 2.1 (no tuning in Sage, works fine in WinTV) Added Reg keys suggested: No change Removed and reinstalled card in Sage setup: No Change Installed 2_2_22292 drivers (Got these off SHS recently, Sage no tune, WinTV fine)) Tried to install 1_8_22170 driver (latest on SHS) (Wouldn't install, error, no driver shows up in DevManager for the card Went to the folder where I extracted the SHS Zip to. Opened the PVR folder and ran pvr48xxx.exe. It indicated the drivers were installed. No change in results. Now here we might be getting some clues.... Went to the 22292 folder and ran setup. Installed the WinTVSel program which mentioned 3rd party support. Ran the program. With Sage running and viewing live Tv Sage would not tune channels, HOWEVER going to WinTVsel in the system tray and changing channels from there it showed up in Sage with the proper channels as I tuned them. I was looking around and in the WinTv folder I noticed a couple LOG files from running PVRxxx.exe. Well in both of them right near the end of the log it says "Could not Self-Register: C:\Windows\system\Hcwtuner.dll Could that be the significant clue here? I looked around and the only copy of that DLL is in the System folder. It doesn't appear anywhere else including the original CD. It must be hidden inside some other compressed install file or something. For now I guess I'm heading back to Sage 2.0x until we can figure this out.

OS: WinXP Pro SP1
Card: PVR250 - model 980 Driver: Hauppauge WinTV-PVR PCI II (Encoder-16) Cable: Tuning with the PVR, no STB. Extended Basic Cable lineup Sage: Set to auto start full screen Intelligent Recording: OFF Decoder: Stock decoders installed by the Hauppauge Software Sound and video: Nforce2 Integrated Driver: 1.18.21.22168 IRQ : 16 PCI Slot: 1 PCI Bus 1, Device 6, function 0 CPU: 1.46ghz Athlon Memory: 224MB (video eats up the other 32) I've downgraded to 2.0.19 until the tuning issue is resolved. Like other wintv2000 works fine and 2.0.19 works. Just 2.1 isn't working. |

Go into Channel Setup and have the video in windowed mode. When you View channels in Channel Setup; does the channel number in the UI under the video window change?

The channel number under the video window, in channels setup, does change, but the video is still black.

Narflex,
I am back to 2.0.2 so I can't check it in the channel setup screen, but I can confirm that the channel # in the UI changes both in live TV mode, and if you have the windowed mode set up in the the Guide listings in 2.1.10.

I downgraded...so i can't confirm it, but iirc the channel number always changed in any mode i can remember using it in, but the video stayed on the stuck channel. I didn't even notice anything was wrong until I tried to watch new recordings and they were all wrong because it was stuck on the one channel.

Actually, yes. The channel number changes on the UI. But the screen remains black.
I have no problem with playing recorder shows. I did not try Jeff's solution yet because I downgraded to V2.0.20 wich is working fine. I'll keep you posted as soon I've tried it. Thanks Ferdinand

I've tried the registry entries, Still the same.
Channel number changes, but the tuner on the card doesn't actually respond. |

I'm in the same boat too. I'm using dish on the s-video in and coax for tuning via rabbit ears for local channels. It is only the locals that will tune.

Jakebucky,
You're saying that your locals (internal PVR tuner) WILL tune? That's different than what most of us have. For most of us it is the internal PVR tuner that Sage isn't tuning. We hadn't heard much, if anything, of anyone having a problem tuning with a blaster while the built in PVR tuner wasn't tuning.

Sorry---I meant to say the local channels WILL NOT tune. {I was a little tired when I wrote the previous one last night}
