Same thing here. I have a two tuner system my pvr 250 MCE will tune correctly but the regular 250 wont(capture card 1). The video is stuck on one channel but the channel # updates correctly. Have used the WinTV 2000 and the tunner will change channels.
I've tried changing the 3 entries listed before with sage closed and no services running, get the same thing. Uninstall and reinstall using the newly created properites file and same thing. Fell back to 2.0 works fine. Reinstall 2.1 over 2.0 and 1 tuner stuck. Have issued a support request. |

Same problem too.
I upgraded to 2.1 yesterday and today I noticed that everything that was recorded from cable was only Black video. Everything that was recorded from my Digital box was OK. Config: Window XP SP2 ATI eHome regular cable using internal tuner Hauppauge 350 Digital Cable using USB-UIRT Intel P4-2.6 Gz 256 MB Since my eHome would not tune properly and my 350 was OK, I was going to swap inputs but since other people are having the same problem with there Hauppauge, I simply reverted back to 2.0.19 which is working perfectly. I really wish I could use 2.1, I would love to use the keyword favorite. I was also going to Ghost my system and start from scratch but other did not have any success with that approach. Any other ideas ??? Thanks in advance. Soleil |

For the e-home wonder, have you tried the new MCE drivers posted on the ATI website? It will error out on install if you are not using XP MCE 2005, to get past that, go to the ATI directory created on your C: drive, find the install.ini file, open it, find the line : "XP_MCE=2" and change it to just XP=2 and the install will run. In previous attempts to get my ehome working on 2.1, I only ever got a black screen with no audio. Now in my latest attempt after upgrading the driver I am getting mixed results. At first it tuned cable fine, then I rebooted and it tuned only static, then I restarted sage and it tuned fine, then I wanted to change my encoder merits so I restarted sage again and it's black screen... 2.1 is really making me wonder WTF could possibly be the problem??? As a side note my hauppage will not tune cable at all but the s-video input works great with my STB....

Can some people please clarify the problem we're talking about?
I thought the issue was that the tuner would get stuck on the last channel that SageTV set it to. But there was still a picture. Others are talking about getting a black screen with no picture.

I always have a picture. My tuner does not tune the antenna [local channels]---stays stuck on FOX.

Hey Jeff,
Did a little more digging and this is what I get: (fresh install) with 2.1 installed and it is set up to record, I get nothing but static on playback. Tried WinTV and it shows images and does change the channel. When I go back to Sage (using channel setup) I get only one channel but no static any more (the last channel I left under WinTV). I then look under live tv with the tuner and I get a blank screen. The only video I can pull under that tuner is in channel setup or WinTV. It seems the tuner is not automaticly initilizing under sage, it need a jump start under WinTv to get video. |

Well, up until I installed the MCE 2005 ehome drivers (on XP sp2), I did get a black screen on the ehome only. Now the ehome works perfectly in 2.1. The problem now is that my PVR 250-16 will not tune channels. Svideo works fine, and sage will tune channels, but apparently the internal tuner on the PVR250 is not changing. The other thing is I get no audio with the 250, except on svideo. Clear as mud? |

And here's my experience with the problem....
I installed 2.1.10 Server, set it up to run as a service, ran the UI, everything worked perfectly fine. Sage changed channels when it's supposed to through USB-UIRT. Then I installed SageClient on the same machine, different directory. Suddenly the USB-UIRT sending is "broken". That is, the Sage server UI is still responsive to the commands received by the UIRT, but it is unable to send anything to my STB. As soon as I uninstall the Client, repair the Server install, and reboot the machine, everythings works as normal. So why can't the client and server coexist on the same machine? Something wrong with the USB-UIRT driver? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks, Chris |

To clarify the problem I have (and others too):
-SageTV 2.0 works fine. -After installing v2.1, I have no picture on the screen, only black video with some white points (so not an overlay problem). -When I change the channel, the UI indicates the change but no change in the video. -Recorded shows are displayed correctly. -The liveTV guide (from XMLTV plugin) does not show any entry neither. -The Frequencies to use are defined in the registery as discribed in another thread. -WinTV2000 works also without problem. Hope this helps... Ferdinand

I think we have split into 2 different problems here.. but ill list my sceario..
Turned to channel 24 in v2.0.19... closed sage, upgraded to 2.1. In 2.1 no matter what I did, I was stuck on channel 24. (the picture and sound were fine, just the wrong channel was tuned). I went back to v2.0.19 and changed to channel 37 then decided to mess around some more and upgraded again. This time I was stuck on chanel 37 in v2.1... so basically it doesnt change the channel. |

If you're having tuning related problems try out this DLL. Replace the one in your SageTV folder with it. Please post your results here.
This uses a graph building technique similar to the 2.0 way.

Jeff,
Tried it and it also works!! See guys, service and support is the reason to chose Sage over the other choices. BTW. What was changed in the new file? If you don't mind me asking? Thanks you so much....... |

This seems to have fixed my tuning problem as well. I am now one extremely happy customer. 2.1 with the MVP clients is awesome. Now to start playing with the STV's, hope I don't break anything.......

Thats the ticket. The new (11/12/04) DshowCapture.dll file fixed my PVR250 channel change problem with SageTV 2.1. All systems go.

If we are NOT having trouble yet.. is this a file we need to worry about? I too have the PVR250's, but haven't (knock on wood) had any trouble with them lately..

Hate to be a party pooper, but PVR250 tuned fine now except there is no audio. Unfortunately I still also have the problem with my e-home. Now it's stuck on the same channel/no audio, but sage tunes normally.
Is there any further info that I could give that would help? Last edited by Endymion; 11-13-2004 at 04:03 AM. |
