Hangs at "launching user interface manager thread"
All,
This is my first experience troubleshooting SageTV. Our copy has started hanging at bootup, specifically while the logo is on the screen and the bottom text line of the logo screen displays "Launching User Interface Manager thread." It will hang for hours at this point, consuming 99% of available CPU resources. Help would be appreciated. We are going out-of-town for 4 days tomorrow (Friday) morning, so if we can't get this addressed fairly quickly, we'll miss days of scheduled recordings. Any suggestions? Thank you. |

If you're running 2.0 you might want to upgrade to the beta 2.1. Install as a service. As long as the service is running you won't mis any recordings. Installing 2.1 might fix what ever the problem is too.

Service running, etc.
Thanks for responding.
Your note gave me some new information, that apparently even though the program is hanging up where I described, if the service is running it will continue to record? Do I have that right? If so, that's helpful at least. But I still need to figure out why it's hanging where it's hanging . . . and I hate to become an unskilled beta tester by installing the beta version of a program I don't understand. |

Did you install it as one user (BOB) and then try to log in as different user (JANE)? That is when I had the same problem. I know that 2.1 asks if it should install only for the user installing or for all users of the machine. This is all assuming you are running XP or a multi-user machine. However - I had a lot of problems with 2.1 and went back to 2.0
