Help with a Transparent Graphic

Hello guys,

I don't happen to have any decent graphic programs on my PC at the moment. I've got a favor to ask of someone. Can one of you take the attached PNG file (a pattern) and make it 1024 wide?

I don't want it stretched but if you could cut a portion of the image and then paste at on side to get it wider I'd be very happy.

Thanks,
Carlo

I'll do it and post back.
Edit: Done
I included 2 versions. Wasn't sure if you wanted the vertical dimension increased as well.

Thanks Tom,

I'm not sure if I found a bug in SageTV or if I've got a scalling issue. Could I trouble you to do the same thing but have the image end up at 1600 x 1200 pixels. I'll know for sure with this size.

Much appreciated,
Carlo

Sorry about that Dave, the eyes were playing tricks on me. I saw "Tox" and read "Tom".

I tried all images provided so far and either there was a pattern as if the images was stretched to get it to the size requested (can't do this) OR the pattern looked correct but the image was no longer transparent.

Would you guys mind trying again. Your both close.

Carlo

Does this work? I don't have time to do the other right now, but hopefully this'll help.

I just double checked my files and gotuitdan's files and mine were exactly what you wanted. I did not stretch them and they are all transparent. The first file gotuitdan posted was not transparent but the last one he sent is the same as the file in the first post I sent. Maybe if you tell us more about what your issue is then we can give some insight to the problems you are having.

If you are just trying to get the same result I could give you a file with that blue color filled solid on the whole image and then alpha blend it down 50% and it should give the same result. I will attach one for the heck of it.

If you are trying to get this to appear transparent in overlay then I don't think the last image I posted will work for you but as for the others they are still good and if you are having viewing issues then I'd say there is some sort of scaling going on in your layout/setup even if you think there isn't.

it most likely is for semi-transparent overlay, and yeah an alpha-blended graphic won't work

By the way.. I created mine in MS word picture editor, screen-shot it, and then saved to PNG in MS photo editor that comes with office 2k (lowtech!)

Nielm was exactly on the money and this solved my problem!

Thanks Nielm.

EDIT: Wrong, tested the wrong file and it didn't work.

I posted a similar message to your STV thread the other day and didn't hear back if the files worked so I figured I'd attach them here. I also noticed I didn't complete the pattern all the way to the bottom of the files in that other thread so here are a couple more versions to try.

What's the difference between these two? I just tried them and turned off 3D Accelleration and they both seemed to work just fine except for the options menu in the OSD which I can "fix" by resizing the options menu smaller.

Is it OK to package one of these files with the next patch release?

They are saved with different transparency methods from Fireworks. One using index transparency and one using alpha. If they both work I'd probably go with index. You can absolutely package one of them. Enjoy.
