TV402u mpeg4 edit question

I have a TV402u and am playing with the different settings of Divx and Mpeg4 recordings. I can edit out commercials of Divx files in VirtualDub but not the Mpeg4, Does anybody know how to edit them? The files play fine and I downloaded a program that tells my the codec fourCC (mp4s) and it says I have 3 codecs installed to be able to decompress it. However, VirtualDub says it can not find a decompressor when trying to open it.
