Installation of 2.1

What is the suggested install for 2.1 on top of previous versions?

Should the old version be uninstalled through control panel first and then new one installed? or can it be installed on top of the old version?

Should the Sage properties file be saved first and copied over the new one after the new installation? (in other words, what is the best of preserving the customizations, video library locations, IR codes, etc)

PS. I think it would be helpful if these issues would be addressed by SAGE developers by default once changes are made to the program. Afterall, this program should eventually be geared toward masses not just full time/part-time computer enthusiast; unless of course, this is not the target audience of the company

As always, make a copy of the properties and wiz files (just in case) and plop the new version right on top of the old one and go.

What issues? To the best of my knowledge, the install procedure has never changed (with the exception of a couple betas that might have been different).

I think what he meant by "issues" was that the install procedure should have been mentioned right along with the new version announcement. I've only been a sage since right after 2.0 came out, so I never had to install an upgrade before and like him did not know the procedure to do so offhand.

It just wasn't in the forum post. And I tend to check the forum more often for the latest information than the main website (since the latter doesn't change much).
