Sage TV 2.1 and PAL
After upgrading to 2.1.10 and entering the country when asked,
the terrestrial channels and signal through the svideo input show as black and white. Are there any PAL users that were successful with this? and how????? Thanks PS It is very frustrating to not be able to go to 2.1 to try all these great STVs coming out........ |

did it prompt for video format (pal/ntsc as well)
If not, shutdown SageTV (and service if you use it) and delete the line in sage.properties: mmc/video_format_code=... It will prompt for pal/ntsc on next start-up. |

Yes, it did. It asked for country, I tried various,
then it asked for Pal or NTSC I selected PAL.. The result, in Sage.properties the country was set correctly (both name and code) and the video format code to 8. In client properties only the video format code was set to 0. nielm, your set-up must be ok. I am pazzled. |

Well I bought SageTV just today (after some good testing in the trial on 2 pc's), and immed upgraded to 2.1
I installed a old Tv Capture card I have, so I could test multi-tuner support(Asus 7134, Philips encoder. So the setup became 1x Pvr-250 and 1x Asus 7134). Sage recognized it in the source section, but when I tried to watch live tv with the 7134, I got error -10, and to top it off: the LiveTV on the PVR-250 is now what I call "shaky". (I also tried deleting the 7134 out of the setup, no luck) I don't know anyway else to call it. The image moves up and down on the tv :S. I selected Netherlands when asked for, but never got the option between PAL/NTSC. Anyone know how to fix this? / Can the 7134 be used in SageTV? Thanks in advance M |

OK. After a clean install of 2.1, the Svideo input is OK but with the sound distorted.
The tuner channels when tuning return an " ERROR (-3,0x8007007b)": There was a problem accessing the filesystem for capture". Methious, the card you are using is most probably a non-hardware encoding card and is probably unsupported. Have you checked the Supported Hardware List. |

Hi,
I'm a PAL user and I had a similar problem with my PVR-250 watching TV via the tuner (didn't try S-Video or composite); the tuner would only show one channel and it was B/W with no sound. When upgrading from 2.0 to 2.1 I wasn't prompted if I was using PAL / NTSC so I manually changed the video_format setting to 8, didn't make any difference. I then used the setup wizard to remove the tuner, stoped the SageTV service and removed all of the encoder lines refering to this tuner. Restared the SageTV service, re-added the tuner and it worked. Kinda. It now shows colour and has sound but will only show the one channel still. |

software decoder on TV-out?
Hi!
Does anyone know if it is possible to use software decoders instead of or in conjunction with the hardware decoders used on the PVR350, to playback on TV? If yes, what do I need to to? What is the code number for PAL in video_format_code in the properties file? Thanks in advance! /Ken Karlsson |

Hi ken,
The tvout of the 350 is handled by pvr350 drivers. You can use a software decoder to also have video(ie mpeg2 decoded) output trough the video card tvout or any of the video card's outputs (d-sub, dvi etc) the code number is 8. |

Anyone tried already this new dll ? It uses a similar graph-building technique like 2.0.20 as it's mentioned in this thred:

Well the problem with the distorted sound still exists, no matter what decoder chosen. The new dll does definitely not fix the problem. Tried anything found in the forums so far.
Come on, no hope for me to use 2.1 ? Give me your secret cheats, i want to use 2.1 ! Thanks in advance hoep |

Apart from the Cayars workaround with 2.1.9, Frey support have responded that it would be addressed with a coming patch.
