Need help with getting CC to work.

I've read many threads about getting cc to work, but still don't have it working.

I'm using the latest drivers from for the WinTV250.
I enabled the ccindvd registry setting
rebooted
I record in "Best" which has outputtype=10

But I don't get CCs. I ran mpg2srt.exe on the recordings and get an empty srt file and an smi file that just has a header.

What am I doing wrong?

thanks,

There is some built-in CC usage in v2.1 -- see Appendix K (p. 203) in the 2.1 manual. It should work with the 250 & 350.

Also, I believe different drivers use different locations for enabling CC in the recordings. See this site. Maybe you've got the wrong reg entry set.

It pointed to a different location. I set it and will do a recording tonight and check the results.

The built in CC in v2.1 works great! Unfortuanately (as pointed out in the manual) it doesn't work in the most commonly used video mode - Overlay with Color Keying enabled.

So, for now what I've done is set it to CC1 in the pop-up Options and then I go into Detailed Settings and enable/disable Color Keying to turn off/on CC (since I normally run with Color Keying enabled otherwise).

I do hope whoever is responsible for that code in SageTV can find a way to make it work with Overlay and Color Keying enabled somewhere along the line. Especially since it does seem to be one of the few new features in v2.1 that actually does work right.

I found the correct place to add the property in the registry from the link Opus4 pointed me to. Now when I run mpg2srt it reports back that it is finding CC block information, but the srt and smi files are still empty. Does this mean that CC is turned on, but the show (The Simpsons) did not any cc info. Ideas?

thanks,
