Moving recordings into folders
I am thinking about using Sage Client on my bedroom PC for my wife to watch recorded shows. This would save me from burning some shows onto dvd-r that I really did not plan on archiving, and I only have one video folder (F:/videos)that Sage records to. After I get a couple days worth of recordings I move them into seperate folders. (CSI into G:\CSI for instance). But then it is gone from the Sage recording list. Is there a way to either manually or automatically move recordings from my default recording location to another location and keep the info in Sage? Just importing it back in leaves out the description and stuff, I would like to keep all the info...

See Q 2 of this FAQ entry.
I'm curious: why do you move the recordings? The client uses its connection through SageTV (server) to stream the files, so you would just leave them where they are to watch them with the client. - Andy

I'm sorry. now that I read my post I see I was a little confusing. I do not want to move them to the client machine. I have always moved them from the default recording location to a seperate folder and when I had a full season of something I would archive to DVD-r.
I have 4 Drives in my system 2x120GB raid-0 SATA C: & D: drives 2x200GB raid-0 IDE F drive 2x250GB raid-0 IDE G drive 250GB IDE H drive I use F:\video as my default recording location. I can't keep all of my recordings on the one drive because I intend to keep some of them to archive and would run out of space quickly. This has not been a problem until recently where my wife wants to watch things I have recorded but I do not want her touching my main machine or new 57" TV in my office. So I thought about Sage client and hooking up one of my old 1.5Ghz machines on my bedroom TV for her. But I want to keep it simple for her to use. |

Two things:
1) You can set up multiple recording dirs on multiple drives, but this does not place the recordings in the folders you want. 2) I think someone was once trying to fake the "specific dirs are for specific shows" concept by adding a recording dir (say: g:\CSI), but telling SageTV not to use any space. Then, they would move the CSI recordings to that dir, thus allowing SageTV to keep it in the SageTV Recordings list. You might have to mark the show as a Manual Recording to prevent SageTV from deleting it, however, since it might see that the allowed space has been exceeded for that dir & delete the show. I have not tried this, so I do not know the effects of doing this... I just thought I would toss it out in case you felt adventurous. - Andy

definitely do not feel That adventurous.
I guess that is the "only" thing I miss about BTV. The ability to record favorites to specific locations. Hope this feature will be added at some point... |
