Studio Release

OK, Is there, has there been an up to date post on the status of Sage Studio or it's release?

It seems to be working for the few that have it and I see a new person pop up here and there making new stv's...

There are a lot of people in this forum that have become dependant on the few that have it (only because we have invested time in helping those that have it develop).

Put out an alpha or a beta and let us develop more stv's to attract more users.
I would like to see stv's finished instead of works in progress trying to put in the kitchen sink (can't wait for SageMC stv to be complete). It's nice to be able to check the weather, showtimes, wifes menstruel cycle via sage, but not necessary to keep having to update the stv's in current cirrculation.

Maybe I am just venting.
I do feel better now..anyone else wanna join....

Updating to a newer release of an STV is entirely up to you. Nobody is forcing you to use every release.

I know no one is forcing me to do anything, but once you start, it's kind of addicting...I wasn't bashing, just venting...no one forced you to read it or reply..

You think it's time consuming or addictive to download and update your STV? Wait till you do have Studio and see how much time you spend and how addictive it is.

BTW, some of us have just started releasing STVs to the public but I don't think there has been any "new" studio people. Many of us who you're just learning have Studio have been in the beta since it started or close to it.

Was the last post from Dan on this way back in June? or did I miss an announcement after that??? Seems somewhat of an update is due if it has been that long. It not, does anyone have the thread of his last post in the release or update of Studio?

Yeah, well, that is Frey's 'new' communication policy: they won't.

I think if is really poor. I think it is a bad idea. But it isn't my call to decide when/how much they tell us on upcoming releases.

So, you can ask, but they've said they are no longer going to comment on upcoming releases, so... Good luck.

does studio require java programming knowledge?

i'm forever looking for ways to make my PVR easier to use (and more robust) and that's one reason i'm looking forward to studio. i've always wanted to rearrange sage's menu structure by burying some of the more advanced functionality deeper in the menu tree.

in the meantime i'm pretty glad nielm took a modules approach. his modules allow sage to be customized one step at a time, which allows your own vision to predominate a little more than it would if you were using someone else's pimped-out custom .STV.

Don't keep your hopes up.

The first rule about about Sage Studio is your not suppose to talk about Sage Studio.

The second rule about about Sage Studio is your not suppose to talk about Sage Studio.

I am R00ST3R's utter lack of patience for studio....

Studio? Isn't that one of those things people pay big bucks for in NY?

I think it's kind of like an apartment.

I bought SageTV two weeks ago, cause I was impressed of the community behind it, and the promising thought that Sage Studio would be released soon so you could make your own STV's. Well after falling into the trap of STV experimenting, it became harder not to want to join in and help / create a STV customized by myself. I know I have no right to speak, cause I've been around for not more than 3 weeks, and some of you have been waiting a whole year for it.

But let's face it:
Studio would be a HUGE bonus for Frey, and maybe add some great extra features. (I'm positive the're people out there would want to code something in the lines of "Online Spotlight" A la MCE 2005, or DVD/CD Ripper/Copier a la MythTV... Not to mention the range of STV's that would come out, so you wouldn't be stuck with the old one, graphical wise...)

Come on... even MCE 2005 has an SDK...
Are there THAT many bugs in Studio (long beta?)?

Well, gotta shut it and wait for the new T+L & SageMC STV

Frey may be missing the boat...MCE has and SDK and BeyondTV is planning to also release one.

agreed, even a buggy SDK would be better than an none at all.
And IMHO "downgrading" Studio so that it would have a better user-friendly interface is not an important factor...

If it has the power to change SageTV, don't strip it just to get that nice 'n friendly point & click skin "generator" for the lazy user .

gonna shut up now...

its probably better in the end to leave it like that. I mean, look at meedio. some people thought it was the second comming and when it came out there were a bunch of people disappointed. Just believe that it will happen eventually and at least then maybe it wont be a letdown when it does.

From where are you getting the information on which you are basing these statements?

Sorry I should have stated them differently, they're not statements, just assumptions. I read somewhere on the forum that one of the reasons for the delayed release could be that Frey Tech was working on making the application more user friendly before a release.

My apologies, these statements are just guess-work.
And while I'm at it, just see my ramblings in this thread just as that, ramblings... I'm just (im)patiently waiting for a tool so I/we can further customize this grand tool to my/our own needs. (and the added that Sage is having audio/dvd playback probs with my Netstream 2000 TV card :P)

Funny, but no one from Frey has commented on or given any information on the Studio project, it's status, or release. Studio was mentioned to have been released shortly after 2.0 when we were still on 1.4. Now we are on 2.1 and no sign of studio. All the current studio (beta) users have been generating stv's for months now. It's been at least 4-5 since we have heard anything...

The reason for this post was not to blast Sage, Frey, or any of the Studio beta testers. Just a small shout out that will hopefully be heard in order to give us an update.....
