How about an after thankgiving SAGE sale?
My wife'll be getting up at the crack of dawn to go shopping after thanksgiving - toasters, fabric, silly keychains that beep like mad every time the baby cries... baby cries more, beeper beeps more, baby cries.... you get the idea.
What about us guys - what do we have to look forward to on that day? How about a 30% off sage software sale? It'd get fence sitters like me (joined forum more than a year ago!) to finally bite, I'd guess there are lots of cheap guys like me around. It'd also encourage existing users to pick up another licence or two for additional set ups. Maybe make a basic sage system for mom&dad for christmas? How about it guys?! I've neard NPR stories reciently about how M$ will be pushing very, very hard to get their software into the living room so this would be a good chance for Sage to quickly built up their user base. And a little extra cash flow for the sage brothers this time of the year would be a nice benifit as well. Heck - this sale's the very least we can do for those nice boys! |

Break down & buy it, you will be very happy!
Heck, I would have paid $99.95 if I had to (don't get any ideas from that!) -Steve |

Is the price really the reason that you havent bought it?
Not wishing to sound rude but it just doesnt seem that expensive considering what it does. If you want a PVR does $20 stop you getting it? Is the competition that much cheaper? |

I just bought everything I needed to do PVR (Hauppage 350, new harddisk, DVD writer, Sage, USB-UIRT) and I have to say that if you're not using sage because you're too cheap then you kind of deserve what you get ... if you're happy with the limited functionality you're getting out of your hardware well then you've made your own bed IMHO. no offense intended, but really ... you wouldn't go on forums for the rest of the gear mentioned above and suggest that you would buy their gear if they reduced the price, right?
Sage is well worth the price, IMHO. Fair value for fair price. Cory |

ok if you call him cheap for asking a question
he is not going to buy SageTV at all especially with stuff like this BeyondTV $9 so this was not that unreasonable of a question but I doubt Freys will acknowledge this request this anyway in the forum you should email them and ask if they have plans to put it on sale this weekend and furthermore you can get it cheaper than through their store goto pcalchemy.com they got the bundles cheaper too. man oh man - you guys need to lighten up...
no - I didn't really expect frey to jump in and run a sale as the result of the my post. But it'd be nice - it actually something alot of retailers do - they must *all* be nuts. Why do they run sales? One of you guys really need to make a couple hundred thousand phone calls and set the retailers straight! And Cory - from motherboard to harddrives, I did get *every* other componet I'm using to built sage on sale. I saved a couple hundred dollars - a small consolation for having to live with being "too cheap". |

Scott--
my tone might've been a little harsh, I wasn't meaning to be quite so pompous my point was, if you've paid for all the other equipment, then you're doing yourself a disservice by not having sage. disregard anything else Cory |

no problem Cory... probably a good point, especially over the long run. However, I have to say I'm somewhat tempted to try snapstream for $9 though!

I say try it. You will only lose $9 when you get it and decide, like the rest of us, that it just does not cut it
Then you can buy Sage and be happy with the "informed" $ you spent. |
