Client device????
I found this product and was wondering if this could be used as a client product. You could have both SageTV running and SageClient running on the same system and use this to access the client.

Try connecting to your SageTV computer form another computer using the "Remote Desktop Connector" and you will understand exactly what this box is doing and you will know if it will work for you or not.

Wouldn't it presumably be cheaper to build a client computer? Also, what kind of expansion capabilities does the unit have? I'm guessing that it doesn't have any sort of TV out or anything like that, or even the option of adding a video card...

Could you build a client computer for under $300?

Depends how nice of a client you want. The biggest factor would probably be the video card, as depending on the quality desired, as well as HDTV compatibility, could range from $30 to $300+, which would break the budget right there. You could get a decent MB/CPU combo for $100. $50 for memory, $50 for a case, $100 for video card...
Of course, I just checked and that unit is down to $250 for a holiday sale... If you read the PDF manual, you'll see that they have plans of releasing a model with HDTV expansions on it in the second quarter of 2005. That model may be more worthwhile... |
