Frequency Of Sage TV Guide Update

I've got the zap2it config file set for 13 days, however sage still seems to update the guide every day. I don't really have a problem with this, just concerns. Is it only updatting the 13th day, or is it reupdating all 13 days?

If it is updating everything, is there a way to reduce the frequency of the update?

Thanks

It's updating all 13 days. There's no way to tell Sage not to update the EPG every day. It's actually a good thing to download all 13 days every day. Having 13 days of info lets you and Sage have a long term view of the upcoming show schedule. Updating the 13 days every day means that any short term schedule changes (shows moved around for any specials that are bieng aired, etc.) will be captured and Sage will adjust its planned recordings accordingly.

Cheers
Lester

On paper this is great but every now and then the download gets hosed and I end up with a big block of missing channels. I hve to go in and delete the downloaded data file and then wait until the next update which might be 20 hours away. Is there a way to force an update manually?

I have never experience anything but purfect guide data with this plugin... If I were you I'd be more focused on solving whatever problem you experience as it is not supposed to mess up.

As I said, sometimes the connection gets interupted, there's nothing I can do about that, it takes almost a half hour to download 13 days worth of 700 channels.

Is there a way to force an update manually?

In my setup, I go into channel setup, remove a channel, save changes and then add the channel, save changes. I then restart sage and then it immediately starts to download the epg data. I think Sage will eventually notice that the change has occured (I seem to recall it searching for the update once without a restart) but since I'm on a modem, I don't want the modem connection to dissappear before Sage can start to download data.

Thanks, I'll try that the next time I have a problem with it.

Even easier: there's a tip for this on p. 42 of the v2.1 manual... simply select a channel twice & select Done. The EPG will begin updating w/o SageTV needing to be restarted.

You could always download less than 13 days to reduce the time. Realistically, if you are experiencing long download times you can probably get by with downloading as little as the number of days SageTV plans ahead (normally 3 days I believe).

Actually I set mine to 5, it seems to be the max I can download without problems. What I really need to do is trim off the channels I don't need, there are a lot of them
