try uninstalling the decoder and deleting the program folder for it
then reinstall it
you should have smart under deinterlacing mode

it the screen is smaller than the TV screen
I would not underscan
alot of TV's overscan so this is needed

Thanks, I believe you're right. After talking to NVidia further they pointed out that I have Powerlink PowerDVD installed (came pre-installed) and that may be causing a conflict with the installation of NV Decoder. I'll uninstall both and try .67 when I get back in front of the box.

Question about overscan vs. undderscan: When I leave the settings in native HDTV mode, then the edges of the windows interface are off the screen. Since changing the settings to underscan reduces the size of the viewable screen so much, what's the solution or work-around to this?

re: decoders, make sure you don't have any previous version of the nVidia decoders installed, if you do the installer just updates the decoders and does not install the nStant media app.

The work around is powerstip and/or creating custom resolutions in the nVidia drivers.

I just wanted to give an update on this. I think I've got it mostly dialed in now. Thanks to all of you for the great advice. Once I uninstalled all the old decoders and killed the folders then reinstalled, everything started coming together. I'm now able to use VMR9 and the quality of SD looks as good (and sometimes better) than DirecTV on my SD monitor. DVD's look great with the nv decoder as well.

I do have a couple of issues . First, I'm having trouble with the centering and fill of movies during DVD playback. If I watch a 16x9 movie I now get a black bar across the bottom. That's using the 16x9 setting, all the others display more black space. How can I get a centered, mostly-filled image?

I'm getting some weird graphics problems in the OSD now. It’s hard to describe, but it looks like stray graphic elements being set over the existing graphics and reacting in odd ways to commands like scrolling through channels in the guide. Is this a fault of the STV or something else?

Thanks again.

There are two places to look if you're having trouble with ARs, first check the AR/Zoom settings in Sage Detailed Setup->Multimedia, you can adjust the horizontal/vertical zoom to fit your screen. If the problem is worse go into the nVidia decoder settings and change the format (usually Content Default seems to work, but you could try Raw also).

I've seen that on occasion also, but only after I do something that causes DX to reset (like adjust the resolution, or moreso if I change any of the AA/Aniso/other DX settings) while Sage is running.
