Webserver SSL Help

I may be a little dense here but I need to figure this part out. I have been very pleased with the webserver and now I want to access it from work via SSL. I have created and stored the key without a problem. I have enabled SSL and changed the port in the sage.properties. However the following is what I'm stumped on for some reason:

Set the property nielm/webserver/ssl_args= with arguments from the following list

-keystoreFile (default %HOME%/.keystore
-keystorePass (default 123456)
-keystoreType (default JKS)
-algorithm (default SunX509)
-clientAuth (default false)
-port (default 8443)
-protocol (default TLS)
-backlog (default 1000)
-ifaddress (default none)

I know this goes in sage.properties but what is the format if I wanted to use keystorepass, keystorefile? Just a quick example would help me a ton. Sorry if I'm missing the obvious.

So, tell us what you did. What was the trick, or the stumbling block?

As my first message described I was stumped on how ssl_args line and its format. I discovered that is looks like this when used with anything other then defaults:

nielm/webserver/ssl_args=-keystorePass 654321 -port 443
(no ; between arguments)

In addition, I was trying to specific a location for the .keystore however anything beyond one folder would be unrecognized. When I went into sage properties the \ would be removed after the first directory. (still not sure why)

After trying and trying I discovered that my .keystore was actually in the default (%HOME%) directory and I didn't need to use that argument.

Problem solved and working great.

Ben,

I'm still confused.

When I run the key program, it stores the .keystore file in the c:\documents and settings\mediaserver directory.

nielm says that you need to move it to the %HOME% directory. What is that???

I've tried to put it in the webserver directory under sage, I've tried putting it in the \webserver\sage directory, but it will not work.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Stacy

The actual directory varies from computer to computer. Mine was located in documents and settings also. It usally places it in the folder for the account your currently logged into. In your case that would be "media server." For you this is your %Home% directory. Things should work fine without having to relocate the file.

Have you got SSL working??

Hi I have noticed that people do seem to have SSL working with the webserver, but I'm well and truly stuck. I have followed the twiki document created, and still can not get the webserver to use ssl. In fact with SSL enabled in the properties file, the web server does not output a log with any debug details. The only thing I am doing differently is that I am using JRE 1.5 not 1.4, would this be a big problem??

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ron.

If you don't end up getting it working, I have a workaround you might be interested in. You can install a freeware program called stunnel on your sagetv server that will take SSL encrypted connections and forward them unencrypted to the webserver app.
