I love my MCE remote control. But after installing the XP SP2 the IR Receiver does not respond to the remote (but the IR sensor LED does light up during button pushes). It is on XP Home, and I tried uninstalling the IR Sensor in control panel and re-installing the XP Pro IrBus driver files that I originally used to get the remote working. The IR Sensor installs properly and shows the correct driver version but it still does not respond to button pushes. Any MCE remote users have the same issue after the SP2 update?

I'm using MCE remote with SageTV, WindowsXP pro and SP2 and don't have such issue. I am able to use many of the keys in SageTV without having to configure anything.
My remote is not the Philips one, but the latest MCE2005 remote. |

Makutaku, can you elaborate as to which keys work out of the box? I have a MCE2005 remote (experimenting with MCE2K5 now) and would love some of the direct 'go-to' buttons work for Sage.
Let me/us know? Thx! Jason |

Keys that don't work:
"recordedTV", "liveTV", "guide", "DVDMenu" and "Info/More". (Those I could make it work using Girder. and "Green Start Button" : this one not even using Girder! All others - including "back", work without girder or any other trick. |

For the old MCE remote, see this MS site. I haven't seen a similar page for the MCE2005 remote yet.
In the link above, buttons that send keys or WM_APPCOMMAND messages will work with SageTV. (See p. 152 of the v2.1 manual for a list of supported WM_APPCOMMAND messages.) SageTV does not yet recognize the buttons that send WM_INPUT messages. - Andy

I have both an old MCE remote and the new programmable one. I use girder for the 4 buttons that Sage doesn't read and I use the free version of Hot Keyboard to map the green button (right Windows key I think) to the HOME key and send it to the Sage window. I programed the programmable remote to send the volume control codes for my displays volume, and the TV power button the the displays on off code. Works perfect (well did work perfect...).
My notebook has XP Pro, so I will update it to SP2 and see if the old or new remote receiver works with it. |

I'm gonna try the Hot Keyboard to map the green button as well.
For now, I have a bigger (and more annoying) problem to solve: REW, REPLAY, FWD and SKIP work right out of the box in SageTV as I mentioned. Unfortunately REW and REPLAY behave the same: go back 10 seconds. Also FWD and SKIP does exactly the same thing: go forward 10 seconds. I don't know how to change this. Using the my keyboard, for example, I have CNTRL+L mapped to -10seconds ALT+L mapped to -150seconds CNTRL+R mapped to +10seconds ALT+R mapped to +150seconds but in the remote it's all the same and I have no idea where to change. Do you guys know ? How is your remote REW, REPLAY, FWD and SKIP keys working ? It's a pain using the remote to skip commercials ! ![]() |
