HELP
We purchased the Plextor / SageTV 2.1 bundle and we're having a hard time getting it to work. It's running on a new Dell PC with 1Gig ram for a demo we are doing. I am trying to record video from a Pelco camera via the Composite video port in MPEG4 / DiVX format.
What I get is extremely large files that are broken into multiple files. Each one being a MPG. DiVX is always put into an AVI wrapper isn't it? The files will not play in any other playback software. It will playback in SageTV. It's like the software is not recording with the correct parameters. It's the only capture card on the box. I am using the composite input. I've tried several of the MPEG4 settings as far as quality and I get the same results. I've even went to far as to reload software and drivers a couple of times without any results. I changed the setting mmc/enable_mpeg4_timeshifting=true to false. Now it records a file then immediately deletes it.
Thanks, Mike |

The divx recordings are stored in an MPEG2 wrapper to allow timeshifted playback of a currently recording show, unless that property in your post #2 is set to false. After the show is done, it should unwrap the recording into an AVI file.
Live TV recordings, by default, are deleted soon after a show is done, so that might explain the 2nd part of post #2. If this is the case, try a scheduled Manual Recording or Favorite instead of live TV. It should not be breaking a recording into multiple files, unless you are watching live tv & changing channels. I'm not sure what would be causing it for regular recordings. You might want to try the latest beta to see if it works better for you. - Andy

Mike,
Make sure you have the WinDVD & DVR software installed that came on the Plextor CD. These install the directshow filters necessary for the DivX & MPEG-4 files to be correctly encoded and saved by SageTV. Also, you can use the Plextor GoCap utility to test out the various settings and perform manual captures http://www.plextor.com/english/suppo...downloads.html (but make sure you stop the Sage gui and service before using it). |
