Advanced encoder priorities question
While in the client and in either the Schedule_by_Capture_Device or the System Information screen I have:
Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II #2 Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II #3 Listed in that order. In Sage.properties I have: mmc/encoders/551195576/encoder_merit=0 . . mmc/encoders/551195576/video_capture_device_name=Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture mmc/encoders/551195576/video_capture_device_num=0 mmc/encoders/551195576/encoder_merit=0 . . mmc/encoders/551195576/video_capture_device_name=Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture mmc/encoders/551195576/video_capture_device_num=1 mmc/encoders/551195576/encoder_merit=0 . . mmc/encoders/551195576/video_capture_device_name=Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture mmc/encoders/551195576/video_capture_device_num=2 1. I would like my encoders listed in order: #1, #2, and #3 in the client screens or just in order at a minimum. It's confusing looking at the current recording schedule when they are out of order. 2. I want to know how the device_num=x corresponds to ...Capture #2, ...Capture, and ...Capture #3. I assume its: "...Capture #2" = "device_num=1", "...Capture" = "device_num=0", and "...Capture #3" = "device_num=2" but there are other lines in the properties that keep me from being sure. 3. Can I edit the Sage.properties to read: "...device_num=1" (instead of =0) "...device_num=2" (instead of =1) "...device_num=3" (instead of =2) I have a feeling that if I could do the above edit the displayed order would take care of itself, although the display would probably be #2, #3, and #4. The possible problem I see is that the numbers in the properties file are tied to how Windows numbers the Hauppage cards in either/both Device Manager and the Registry. At a minimum I need the answer to 2. so I know which 250 I am setting encoder merit on. |

Also, I'm not sure just what changing the "device_num=" lines might do, or how many other things that could mess up. Maybe someone else knows? Quote:
Of course, you could just try setting the merit values different for each and see which one tunes (assuming nothing else is recording at the time, it should always use the higher merit tuner). However, be aware that it will shuffle the order around on the tuners depending how many shows are to be recorded at the same time and which tuners are already in use, so there is no real way of telling for sure which tuner it will use in advance (especially if you bounce in and out watching LiveTV in the middle). |
