open your sage.properties file and find this line

seeker/fast_mux_switch=true

change it to false

seeker/fast_mux_switch=false

the 5 minute issue is seemingly GONE now that I have done this :-)

I couldn't figure out why my recordings were starting five minutes behind schedule (it was driving me nuts!) but now I do thanks to this posting. Thanks also to those who offered the solution. I checked the FAQ before I discovered this thread and didn't see anything about it.

Thank you for posting this! This is the exact problem I seemed to be having. Any back to back recordings would be clipped 5 minutes at the start with an empty mpg file.

Changing the setting for seeker/fast_mux_switch=false seems to have fixed the problem.

You probably aren't exiting SageTV completely, which means stopping the service if you are using service mode. No changes to sage.properties will be read while SageTV is running.

Or, you aren't editing the files in a plain text editor, such as Notepad with Format -> Word Wrap unchecked. If the file is seen as corrupted, the autobackup version will be used instead.

Or, you have extensions turned off in Windows Explorer & you are actually editing the .autobackup file because you don't see that extension.

I had this same issue for quite a while. Try this fix...it worked for me.
