MCE remote users: are your volume / channel buttons hard to press
Just got the MCE 2005 remote, all of the buttons except for the volume / channel rockers work as expected but for those 2, when you press until you have that tactile feedback like the other buttons it does not take affect. I find I have to really press on either rocker which is annoying as this is not required for other buttons.
Is this a defective unit? Do any of you really have to press to get this rockers to work? For example I can press and hear the soft click but still no action until I press harder down. Thanks for your help I am hoping I just got a lemon. Pete |

Hi Jenkins,
I'm glad I'm not the only one! I've gone through THREE Microsoft MCE remotes from two different suppliers. All of them have had this problem. It's dissapointing since Microsoft has a great reputation in terms of the quality of its accessories. Channel surfing actually makes my thumb sore. So I'm at a crossroads. I'm not sure what action to take next. Exchaning the remote would be pointless, since this is already my third brand new unit and your post has confirmed that this is a systemic problem with all of the remotes. I might just decide to live with things as they are. But, most likely, I will contact Microsoft directly. They'll probably just wiggle their way out of things by pointing out its an OEM product and supported by the supplier/manufacturer. Either way, I'll let you know what they say. Let me know if you have any ideas. And if anyone else has this problem, please chime in! |

Bo, I really did not want to hear this! It is so strange that the 2 most commonly used buttons (4 buttons really) are so hard to press. I now normally use the numeric pad but am considering moving to snapstream or another remote. Also, phillips makes an OEM version that looks the same and is cheaper. I wonder if it suffers from the same problem. If this affects all remotes you think there would be a large number of people affected.
To anyone reading this, if you press the button down just until you feel the tacktile click and it does something let us know (for example test on both channel and numeric 1 button) for numbers it works fine, for numeric it does nothing - click click click nothing. Click and press very hard - change. SO STRANGE! Others: what remote are you using and do you like it? |
