SageTV locks up when trying to access imported media

After having some other critical Java related issues, I decided to completely wipe my pvr machine and start fresh. All XP updates and latest hardware drivers, j2re-1_4_2_06-windows-i586-p.exe, SageTV_V2_1_10Setup.exe. Everything else seems to work fine now but any attempt to access imported video results in SageTV freezing completely at the menu screen before listing any media. I started with no media in the configured path (c:\MyVideos), after the first few lockups I tried moving a Sage recorded mpeg into it - no dice. My music (c:\Mp3) works fine, seems to only be related to video. Any ideas? Also, what is the purpose of the Archived menu item? I havent found any configuration to set an archived folder, or seen sage place any files into my imported folder... seems confusing.
