You can currently run multiple client instances on a single computer... or else there wouldn't still be a '-multi' command line parameter.

Even specifically for the intent of avoiding having to buy Sage Client licenses?

I asked about it & was told that SageTV never made an issue of it before because there is not a way for the software to check the usage to prevent multiple MVP clients from connecting to the same Client on a single PC. So, technically, running multiple MVP clients from a single SageTV Client license does violate the intent of the license.
Now... aren't you glad to asked me to double check? - Andy

Doesn't bother me a bit. I was always confident it violated the license. Which is why I have 2 MVPs and 2 Sage Client licenses.
I just think it should be clear what is 'legal', just in case Frey ever starts enforcing their licensing more than they do now (aka check for multiple MVPs etc). Jason |

I suppose that would be the legal answer... and if you are actually using the client on the PC, you should probably have a license for that too... but I don't set policy for SageTV. If you want a definitive answer, you could email them to ask how they expect Matt's MVP plugin to be used.

Thank you everyone for pretty much informing me of the capabilities of the MVP. Now, can someone be as specific as possible and tell me as I install Media MVP's and I want to use the plugin from Matt, could somebody give me a 1, 2, 3 listing of things to do. I already have one SageTV Client purchased, if I understand things correctly I need to install this on the sage server and the plugin for each Media MVP I hook up. How do I tell the software that this Media MVP is for the kitchen and this one is for the bedroom, ect, ect?
