Setting for digits in channel numbers??

I am using Dish Network with the XMLTV plugin to download guide data, and I am having a problem in that I can not key in channel numbers beyond 3 digits manually.

For instance, if I try to key in 6008 it will automatically switch to 600 before I get a chance to enter the 4th digit.

Is there a setting somewhere that controls the number of digits in the channel numbers in your lineup??

The short answer is yes.

Not being at my machine, I do not recall if this was added to setup menu or not.

Whether or not a menu item, it can be done just the same by editing the "YourIRFile.ir". "YourIRFile" is just generic for whatever it is you are using for the actual "ir" file. The "ir" file(s) resides under the "Common/Remote/" directory IIRC. Open with notepad. There are a number of parameters in the first line. One of those will be a "3". Try changing that to a "4". Somewhere either in the manual or on this forum is definition of the field entries should you want further detail.

Sorry so vague but nothing to refer to where I'm at. Perhaps someone else can be more specific for you. Good news though is, Yes, 4 digits is not a problem.

That sort of gets me in the right direction... but I can't find which ir file should be the one to modify. I am using a network encoder and xmltv plugin to download the listings, so the files in that folder don't match the setup I am using.

Perhaps it is in the network encoder settings in the sage.properties... I will look there.

Which network encoder?

For NE's, channel change commands are sent via the network path even if NE is local on same machine.

I have kind of the opposite problem. For some reason, Sage seems to need 4 digits to tune a channel instead of 3. I only need 3 digits so this is somewhat irritating. The interesting thing is that it only needed 3 previously, but when I switched to meekell's stv, it seems to need 4. I haven't spent much time looking around for what changed though. Maybe this weekend.

Think I found where you set it. See graphic below. But basically it is on each tuning plugin used if I found the correct place. Setup Video Sources > Pick a tuner card > Then pick something like Tuner Control: USB-UIRT on right side > remote control options > Digits per channel.

Hope this is what you need.

Im not sure where the OP is experiencing this issue, but I have an issue where I can not key in a 4 digit channel when viewing the guide. I've not located a setting to override that yet. Is there one? Its a real pain to try and jump to channel 9480 and end up on 948 with about 30 channels inbetween. As soon as the 3rd digit is entered on the guide, it jumps. Happens on client and server. This isnt a IR file issue though, possibly a limitation in Sage?

This is not a Sage limitation. Please see the post above for where to set this.

Unfortunately, there is nothing in this thread that is pertinent to fixing my issue. I should also mention, that the tuning option jpg above isnt a viable option for me. I dont have any tuning device options setup on my network encoders. So how can you get Sage to accept a 4-digit channel in the Program Guide, to jump to that channel in the guide? I've looked at the entire properties file, and cant find anything there or in any of the setup options.

Seems it is a Sage limitation of sorts. According to this thread:

So Off to learn Studio I go...
