Hauppauge WinTV PVR 150 - "Could not find IR hardware."

I just bought this card, and have it hooked up to Starchoice, with SageTV, the remote, controls the SageTV software, but will not control the Starchoice reciver. When I go to the IR Blaster Config I get a message that says "Could not find IR hardware." I have tried both ports on the IR blaster. I even returned the product and got a replacement.

Any idea's?

SageTV just uses that blaster via the Hauppauge software, so if the Hauppauge IR software can't find the IR blasters ("Could not find IR hardware"), then you should probably contact Hauppauge to see what they suggest.

I remember that setting up my pvr-150 required 2 driver installs. There was a base level driver and a main driver for the capture cards. Once, I didn't have both installed correctly and I had issues with the IR blaster. IIRC, the IR receiver worked, but the blaster didn't, but I am not sure.

I installed all the lastest drivers off their web site, and I get the same error message. I have tried to contact their technical support, but after a 10 minute wait on hold, I have to leave a message, and they would call me back. But that is yet to happen. Hopefully someone calls me back.

IR Blaster problems - "Could not find IR hardware"

I have just bought the Hauppauge! WinTV-PVR 150 MCE-Kit, comes with the Remote, and USB IR Blaster. I'm running Windows XP Pro (SP2).

The remote works fine for controlling SageTV, however I can't seem to setup the IR blaster for my Satellite Receiver. I have installed all the lastest driver from the Hauppauge! web site.

I go to the "IR Blaster Configuration" and it pops up an error message:

"Could not find IR hardware"

I have contacted the tech support at Hauppauge, and I got some guy that didn't really sound confident in his anwsers. So no help there.

Can someone please help me? Thanks.

You are trying to use the Hauppauge IR Blaster software... This software only works with the Hauppauge cards that have onboard IR hardware (a small phono plug on the bottom left of the backplane).

You purchased the "Media Center Kit". This kit has an MCE 2005 compatible USB remote. You can NOT use the Hauppauge IR software with this remote.

You need to get the MceIr driver and install it, along with either HIP or Girder. You then need to configure it for use with SageTV.

For details, see the following threads and links:

Note, however, that the SMK manufactured MCE transciever that is included with the Hauppauge kit has a hardare bug - blaster port 1 does not function. Make sure you configure the software to use port 2 and things will work properly.
